Thought Leader, Speaker, People Protector Not a Vendor
Hey Old Dawgs 👋 I’m Jen Martinez, but most people call me JMar. I’ve been here a minute and realized I never shared why I’m part of this crew. I was introduced to Lean by @L.r. Weeden , who invited me to last year’s Arlington conference. That’s where I found Old Dawgs and instantly knew I’d found my people. I work alongside builders, superintendents, Lean practitioners, safety, EHS, and emergency response leaders solving a growing problem impacting the majority of our workforce every day: depletion, commonly mislabeled as dehydration. Most people are programmed to believe that drinking water solves dehydration. It doesn’t. Prevention plans built on water, rest, and shade are quietly wrecking people, projects, timelines, and budget lines. My company focuses on restoration, not hydration. We lead with education and provide real-time support—helping crews regain physical and mental readiness with fuel they can feel working. This reverses symptoms fast, instead of forcing people to push through daily fatigue, brain fog, muscle cramps, headaches, and body aches until they inevitably crash. If your crews are dealing with: • Physical or mental health struggles • Afternoon slowdowns and low motivation • Monday fatigue carrying into the week 👈🏻(PC way to say hungover 😵) • Costly cognitive mistakes, rework, injuries, or frequent call-outs • Pushing through instead of speaking up That’s the gap I help leaders close. I’m here as a thought partner and people protector, not a vendor. I’m always open to sharing what’s working in the field and learning from others who truly care about prioritizing people and project productivity. Grateful to be part of this group and the conversations that actually matter. We serve a God of overflow, and I’m simply walking out His restoration assignment through divine alignment. Glad to connect anytime 🤝 (And yes… I do love a good rhyme 🤓) Have a blessed and productive week, Dawgs.

LCI Call for Congress Abstracts
OLD DAWGS!! Good Morning! Several folks have reached out, curious about presenting at The Lean Construction Institute. They just released the call for abstracts. For those of you who do not know, there is a significant discount if you are able to register as a speaker vs. registering just to attend. Here is a link to submit your abstract: https://congress.leanconstruction.org/abstract-submission/ I am more than willing to coach folks as you'd like. I've had several accepted in the past and am always willing to weigh in with opinions. There are also a few old dawgs who are with JE Dunn and Whiting Turner - both hosting sponsors. Maybe we can butter them up to put a good word in!?! Ha! Seriously, if you're interested in some coaching to put your best abstract forward, please reply to this post or send me a note... Thanks as always to those who are putting their time in to share construction wisdom! It's making a difference!

adam-hoots, appreciate you opening this up and offering to coach. This kind of peer-led learning is exactly how Lean continues to advance. I am looking to submit a Live Lab abstract that addresses a constraint experienced daily in the field. Lean keeps improving materials, planning, and workflows, yet one constraint still slips through our systems: human depletion, often mislabeled as hydration. Crews have been following prevention plans, drinking plenty of water, and still experiencing fatigue, missed handoffs, decision degradation, safety interruptions, and declining PPC. That’s compliance without risk reduction. The work I’m bringing forward is field-proven and Lean-grounded: depletion and restoration as operational conditions. When capacity drops, flow breaks. When capacity is restored in real time, clarity returns and commitments hold. My Live Lab uses PDCA and visual management to make human performance visible and reduce risk without adding process burden. Grateful for this community and for leaders willing to challenge what we may still be missing
