My phone only has a 2x zoom. Don't use too much zoom where the quality drops off dramatically. Use just enough to get a closer shot then crop it in closer in post processing.
Sticking with the theme of night/long exposure. I took this photo is morning. I switched my camera took night mode which set it to a 6 second shutter. The key here is look for lighting. I thought the earlier morning fog was interesting and I could hear a car coming in the distance. Combine this elements plus adding in some leaves from the tree to frame the shot and this is the result.
I took this photo with my old phone, Glaxaxy S9. My kids were playing with glow sticks in the dark so I set my photo shutter for 1 full second. They played and move the sticks around and I took the photo.
Try shooting low or from a different angle to change the look and feel of a photo. I try to always get at or maybe even below eye level of the subject I'm photographing.
I challenge myself to take at least one photo a day with intention. Here is an example where it's nothing flashy very basic. Just a photo of my deck really was just focusing on the texture of the wood. Taken at an angle to add a little spice to it using the crack as a leading line, and the screw as the main subject.
@Peter Mueller My pleasure! I imagine the leading line is the crack located at the center, and the screw encourages us to use our peripheral vision because it's "placed" off-center?
