Behind the screens we all have lives that are full of so many different things... families, friends, good days, bad days... I typically struggle with being vulnerable because I never want to bring down anyone else's mood or affect them in any way. I try to be positive & uplifting & I've always been really good at burying all the other stuff down. But that completely contradicts everything we (Brian & I) want to do with our business & our lives. I love connecting with people & helping people & getting to know people for who they are... so then why am I so unwilling to share things about myself? This is something I am actively trying to improve on... being more open & real. The past few weeks have been full of a lot of emotions. My mom's best friend & co-worker of 30 years was diagnosed on Christmas Eve with stage 4 cancer. After putting up such a strenuous fight, she passed away Saturday night. Loss & grief are never easy to explain. When I lost my dad when I was 18, the feelings were so different... it was more of a numbness rather than sadness like this, but it's crazy what kind of emotions new loss/grief can dredge up. It makes you look at all the facets of your life so differently. After spending the weekend at my mom's, Brian showed me Dan Harrison's LFG video about The Giving Games when I got home. We both feel so aligned with this & want to implement it into Tax Class. The Giving Games helped us realize how giving/being charitable & business can really be intertwined into one and in turn help so many people. A lot of the times we are so consumed with getting more rather than giving more... more money, more members, more followers, more whatever. But shifting that mindset can be so powerful... giving more of your time, giving more of your resources, & just showing up for people in need. So, over the next week, I want to start rolling out our plans on how we're choosing to implement The Giving Games into our community & how all of us can play & benefit 🤍

I’m so sorry for your and your Mom’s loss. These deeply emotional losses help shape who we are, and your willingness to step into vulnerability is a huge step. Hugs to you all, and I look forward to whatever you create!
