Fresh Air Friday
💛For you: Make a plan for an outdoor activity over the weekend, like walking, biking, swimming or gardening. Time in the open air is nourishing and your wellness matters. 🍎If you're back in session, for students: Challenge the class to a "Nature Scavenger Hunt" before they leave for the day. Ask them to look for something they've never noticed before on their way home (walk/bike/bus/car...) and report their finding when back to school on Monday. 🌳 What's your go-to activity - for yourself - in the open air? 👐 Gentle reminder to check out the 7-day starter kit to help you get acquainted with this community.

Yes to walks (usually with the dog, and sometimes also with one of my kids if they’re around). 💗 I’ve created a daily tracking sheet for myself for supplements (I’m at THAT age), exercise and general physical and mental mood, among other things, including goals I’ve set for myself. It keeps me accountable to myself and I can easily see the connection between movement, physical and mental health. I try to do any of the physical activity part of my day outside as much as possible.

That is so important! I’d suggest a tracking system for a classroom too, including conversations as a group about how students felt before and after a movement break or outdoor time. This could bring awareness, even at a young(er) age, of the benefits of this type of time spent. How did they feel (mentally and physically) before the movement? How do their bodies and minds feel afterwards? Normalize conversations about this and introduce vocabulary/language to express it.
