Ask something, get an answer, close the tab. next session starts from zero again like it never met you. the actual power is in three things almost nobody sets up in the first week. MEMORY.md and USER.md. two small files Hermes reads at the start of every session. one remembers your setup and past work. one remembers who you are, how you write, what to avoid. keep them lean though. bloated memory actually makes it worse. Skills. any process that works, you type /learn and Hermes saves it forever. next time you need it, it runs the same process without you explaining it again. you can even chain skills or spin off sub-agents running in parallel. Cron jobs. once a skill works you schedule it. Hermes runs it in the background on your VPS while you sleep. no laptop needed. 140k GitHub stars and this is the feature most people never touch. Memory gives it context. skills give it capability. cron makes it show up to work without you. 30 minutes of setup. every session after that compounds.
