Scored another FREE Direct Drive washer!
Responded to a post for someone giving away a working Refrigerator. Said they would also have a washer. When I pulled up, it was a DD!! They said they were moving to a shared house with another couple, who had a newer, larger washer and fridge. So they couldn't take these, and said they both work fine. I haven't checked them yet, but I'm not worried 🙂

New Maytag Dryer Haul
Got this Maytag MED4005SW0 which was manufactured this year, paid $100 for it. The electrical connector that was on the motor for the timer was bent, so there was no power going yo the timer. Was able to get it fixed without spending anything on it and now it works like it should!

Cool deal! 🙂 That was from a store? Like a Scratch-n-Dent or a Lowes Outlet?

How cool! I would like the same hookup with someone who picks up all the haul away appliances with Lowes and Home Depot. I would like to get all the Direct Drives they get that way. They charge to haul away, so they already got paid for the things! Wish I knew a way to accomplish that.....
Dryer cords
Where is the best place to purchase 3 and 4 prong?

3-prong I've never needed to, because nearly all of the electric dryers I've ever picked up all had 3-prong and now I've got a bunch of them. I go to eBay for the 4-prong, and look for "lots" of multiples. I got one lot of 7 (4 footers for $42.41 for about $6 each), and one lot of 10 (6 footers for $79.90 so $7.99 each), which is all I've needed so far. I have an offer in on a lot of 5 used ones that will include 2 of 14-50, for Ranges. So far I've only gotten gas ranges, but eventually will probably come across electric ones, and I'll want some 4-prong cords for that.
Dryer cords
Worst thing is when a customer has a 4 prong dryer outlet and you can only supply a 3 prong cord. 4 prongs are around 40-50$ where I'm at locally. Where do you guys get dryer cords from ?

I've never found any remarkable deals on Amazon or on FB Marketplace for 4-prong cords. $13, $15, $18.... I did see a guy with 20 or so 3-prong cords, for like $5 each. But most used electric dryers I've ever picked up have 3-prong, and so I have those coming out the ying-yang. In eBay I can sometimes find lots of 5, or 6, or 7 or 10 or so. Most of them are also priced in the $13-18 each range, but some have a "Make Offer" and I've gotten two such accepted. One was for 7 cords in 4' for $42.41 incl tax & shipping, so about $6 each. The other was for 10 cords in 6' for $79.90 incl tax & shipping, so $7.99 each. These sets were both for new cords, but I don't care about that, a used cord is fine. There just aren't a lot of 4-prong used cords.
Fridges
How do we do with fridges? See tons and tons of them for free they just don't cool. Easy fix ? Assuming it's not the compressor that is out.

I never started this thing looking for Fridges, I only wanted washers -- and of those, I only want Direct Drives. In 5 months of TakeMyAppliance, I have only ever even SEEN ONE Direct Drive (I did get it). But I get refrigerator leads almost every day. I don't want any Samsung, or any French Door of any make, and I prefer ones with no ice maker. But I will take a side-by-side with an ice maker as long as it has no digital face or any computer boards. So I will respond to leads for units that fit that which say "working" because they can usually be just cleaned and sold. Or if there is a non-working one in a multi-appliance lead, and they won't separate; then I'll take them too if I want the other appliances. Some that claim to work turn out that they don't, and some that claim to not work actually do. Often when one doesn't work it will be "cool" but not cold. Many of those just have a bunch of dirt and muck all over the components in back. A lot of people don't ever pull out their fridge and clean back there, and dirt and dust just builds up til it quits chilling. If you vacuum and remove all that real well, a lot of times it starts chilling again like it should. And then you just clean it and sell it. I don't do any compressors, but there are guys who do, or junk guys who will come pick them up. I hope to find someone who does compressors, to whom one would have value, and take those to him and swap for broken washers (that won't bring him as much money). I have not found someone like that yet!
