Celebration for the Play Tennis Challenge!
Hi Everyone! I am planning and wanting to do a celebration gathering to celebrate the winners of our first play tennis challenge cohort! The idea is to have it in the morning of Saturday June 27th. We were going to try to do the picnic tables at Balboa park, but they were asking for $400 for the reservation and demanding that we make it a private event and giving them a proper headcount. So we are shifting the idea to maybe having it at City Racquet Shop and we can gather in the back of the shop in the alley. But we are also putting an ask out if anyone could possibly host, or know of a different option of a place. I would like to keep the function open for the gathering of the challengers, friends and partners. I did put of a $10 membership for this and future play tennis celebration. We are going to use this as a way to cover some cost and know who can come to our parties. So if you are interested in coming or if anyone wants to come, they can sign up for Skool and pay for the membership. I am going to add another membership that will incorporate the celebration membership, but to add on for tennis goodies($20 Value). I am thinking a can of tennis balls, a pack of overgrip(3 individuals), and a store dampener. The membership will be $20 that would include the celebration membership ($10) and the tennis goodies ($20).

I wouldn’t be able to make it cause it’s GG Valencia and I’ll be in Europe :( - otherwise sounds like a great idea to bring people together!
No video Q&A tonight
Sorry! I won’t be able to do a video Q&A tonight. But I can take questions here!

No specific questions but in general wanted to see how you and your social media director are doing in terms of the success of the campaign and how that’s going?!

I've been wondering this but when do new racket models usually come out? I'm following some subreddits that track rackets and it seems like Head might have some new ones this Fall?
Filming recs
What tripods have people found helpful with their setup? Noticing mine is filming slightly tilted and also falling over. Is it better to shoot horizontal or vertically? Horizontal covers the entire court but vertical translates better to iPhone reels video format

I use a selfie stick that also doubles as a tripod. These seem to work well. You just have to experiment a bit with different brands/styles and I used Amazon to do it (returning ones that didn’t work out). Also, I try both style layouts but with horizontal often crop in a bit when I post so the final is closer to a square.
(Late) Shoutout
Strong videos to shoutout this week https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYL4YV-t83G/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== @Everett Boyer I love how you are engaging your viewers to see if you'll make it to your goal! Keep up the great work! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYPb21YpG4p/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== @Po Tsui I hope you are enjoying your new ball machine! A great tool to help get the repetition in! Keep up the great work everyone! My team and I are watching your videos and we are happy to see all the great videos! The biggest thing is that you all are showing up! For those of you who are posting your videos as reels, are you looking at progress yourself? Or do you post and forget about it? If you are looking for improvement in your tennis, you look at your tennis videos. If you are looking to better your videos, you review what you have posted and see what you can tweak in getting better, and this also applies to your tennis as well! Comment on what kind of changes are you doing in your tennis or videos and comment on what you are going to try to improve for next week!

Even though my posts don’t show a lot of video, I actually usually tape way more with my set up, so like the whole match. I can then look back later on them. TBH, this is much more useful than the short clips that wind up getting posted (usually the better points) since the points I lose are the ones I should look back on.

Working on some tweaks to my forehand technique, my coach is in LA though so it's a bit of a drive from the Bay Area but worth it (I was actually down here for Mothers day). Also, got my rackets restrung!
