Where did you buy your Shillelagh? I live in Ireland, so I am tempted to go to the source 🤣 Shillelagh is a village in County Wicklow and you can buy it there
@Udo Reulbach I actually went with Liam's classic/O'Caidhla style stick. I was really interested more in the aesthetic of the stick versus it's use as a fighting implement. It is great as a solo practice tool and would work in a pinch to crack a head (I would suppose). I also did not opt for the lead loaded stick as I was trying to be cost prohibitive. He breaks down the lengths for size as well. Typically, around a 34 - 36 inch stick should work if you are a 5'8" - 6' tall person. I know I have seen some online videos with some real specific breakdowns on how to size a stick. I am not sold on the hardline necessity of it. McCaffrey Crafts and Declan Casey may also be options for you as well. I have never held any of their sticks but the sticks I have seen by Mr. Casey are simply gorgeous. I would suggest getting yourself a beauty for solo training and a nice bata trainer for contact or bag work. Those are all my opinions, I would defer to any of the more experienced practitioners here amongst the group.
I love both of these sticks. One was made by a maker here in the US and the other was from Liam. They are both great training tools. They have different feel, different characteristics and respond differently in the hand.
