šŸŽØ July Challenge: 30 Brush Strokes
(Please put the paintings you make in 30 brush strokes under this post. ā¤ļø) Ready to loosen up, paint more confidently, and stop overthinking every brushstroke? Welcome to the 30 Brush Strokes Challenge! For the next 30 days, you’ll create small paintings using no more than 30 brush strokes. That’s it. No perfect paintings. No endless tweaking. No pressure. Just 30 intentional marks. Why this challenge? Many artists improve by painting more. But you’ll often improve even faster by painting with limitations. When you only have 30 brush strokes, you can’t overwork your painting. You learn to: - paint with confidence instead of hesitation - simplify what you see - make stronger decisions - let go of perfectionism - trust your instincts - finish what you start You’ll probably be surprised by how much your paintings improve after just a few weeks. The rules šŸ–Œļø Maximum 30 brush strokes per painting. šŸ“ Keep it small (A6, A5, postcard size… whatever feels easy.) ā±ļø Spend around 5–15 minutes on each painting. šŸŽØ Use any medium you like. šŸ“ø Share your paintings in the group whenever you’d like. Need ideas? Paint whatever inspires you! For example: - fruit - flowers - birds - pets - landscapes - your morning coffee - your favorite mug - vegetables - mushrooms - trees - people - houses - clouds - seashells - a toy - your paint brushes - something from your garden - something completely from your imagination Missed a day? No worries. This isn’t about having a perfect streak. Life happens. Skip a day if you need to, then simply continue the next day. Progress is built over time—not by being perfect. One more thing… This is not a competition. There are no winners. No prizes. No judging. The only person you’re challenging is yourself. At the end of the month, you’ll have a collection of small paintings that show your growth—and that’s the real reward. Who’s joining? šŸŽ‰ For inspiration a link: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaQo8uaRsYW/

Day 2 done. today I used tally marks for every stroke so I would not loose count when I get interrupted, or need to let a layer dry! It was helpful.

July Challenge - Day 1
We are camping and I didn't bring paints. So I bought some inexpensive paint at walmart, and cut up cardboard to paint on. Here is to Day one of painting on cardboard.

ā˜• Let’s plan our next Coffee Break
Our last Coffee Break was so much fun. It was wonderful to finally meet some of you, chat about art, share ideas, and simply spend time together. I’d love to make it a regular event—but I’d like to plan it around your schedule. Would 8:00 PM (Paris time) work for you? Or would another time be better? And what day do you prefer? šŸ—“ļø Weekday or weekend? I’d also love to hear what you would enjoy doing during our Coffee Breaks. Should we: šŸŽØ Paint together? šŸ“š Follow a short lesson or mini course? šŸ–Œļø Work on our own projects while chatting? ā˜• Simply grab a coffee and get to know each other? šŸ’¬ Talk about art, creativity, and the challenges we’re facing? ✨ Or something completely different? The goal is to build a friendly community where we can inspire, encourage, and learn from one another. Leave a comment and let me know: • Your country (I’m curious where everyone is joining from!) • Your preferred day • Your preferred time • And what kind of Coffee Break you’d enjoy most. Hopefully we can get an even bigger group together this time. I can’t wait to see you all! ā¤ļø

I am not a good gauge on time. We are traveling for 3 months in our rv and time is dictated by the sunrise and setting! Once we get home to the Everglades in Florida, USA I would love to join you for a coffee break!
Challenge! Show Up & Create
Most artists don’t fail because of talent. They disappear. So let’s fix that. New challenge: Show Up & Create → 3x per week→ for 30 days→ post whatever you made (finished or messy) Rules: - No perfection - No overthinking - Just proof you showed up - Miss a day? Don’t quit. Just continue. This is about becoming someone who creates. Not someone who waits. I’m in too. Who’s joining?

Thank you @Rachel Bk. From the picture, the dragonflies are not standing out very well. I will be working on that. I maybe should have made them twice as big!

Dealing with the social media pressure to be good!
Hi All, Hoping everyone is well and enjoying the start of the summer wherever you are. I wanted to make this topic because I'm sure I'm not alone in this and I'm sure we can help each other out a little. I just took a couple of weeks break from social media (here included) because I noticed it was starting to negatively influence how I feel about my own work. Now this surprised me because I like to think of myself as pretty level-headed and mildly self-assured, especially after years of therapy šŸ˜… I never made art for anyone but myself and I never set out to sell or impress. But seeing people on Instagram especially making SUCH beautiful work lately got me feeling like "I'm not enough" or "I'm not doing enough". I think we've all been there at some point. What surprised me this time is that, normally, Instagram for me is a source if inspiration and admiration but something about that changed lately and became more about pressure and competitiveness. Has anyone else found this or felt this? If so, how do you deal with it? I genuinely love seeing other people's work and their successes and don't want to avoid social media - but I need to find a way to not compare. As I say, I'm surprised by my own reaction and it feels a little vulnerable putting this out there but I reckon this little community we have here can relate.. Any thoughts? Kat

Comparison is the killer of becoming my best self, I have found. I do it in my art, on my YT channel, in my writing, I have to STOP scrolling artist, niche YT stuff and just let myself be ME! I am hoping this group of artist will let me learn and hone my skills without harsh words. I don't mind having my work critiqued. Just need some encouragement along the way. I have found a group who is good with the YT stuff. I am hopeful this group will be a support group for learning to release the art in me. Palm Trees are what I paint when I don't know what to paint! These are greeting cards.
