Thinking too much
I’ve tried to learn finger picking for several years. As long as I’m not really thinking about my fingers and trying to stay in rhythm/time, I can do ok. But the second I lapse and focus my thoughts on my fingers, it all goes south. Usually only a minute or two. How can I keep my fingers going in rhythm for an extended period of time??? I thought it would come with time and practice, but I’m not so sure anymore.

Go slow and start with your thumb. Gradually add in other fingers….I started with the middle and ring fingers

Then , when you get a riff that’s working, build up speed until you’re playing it way too fast. After that, slow it back down to where you enjoy it and be sure to play it every time you pick up the guitar
First riff you play when you pick up a guitar in a music store?
For me, it would probably be Scar Tissue by Red Hot Chilli Peppers. It's such a classic one. Pretty fun to play 🎸 What's your go-to riff?

@Ronald Parada I don’t know! It sold for $3000 like 6 or 7 years ago. It’s a one-off so there are no comparisons to go by. It was made soon after Fender bought Guild and created as a showpiece for a booth at NAMM.
