🔍 CIGAR OF THE WEEK: CALDWELL LONG LIVE THE KING MAD MOFO
Let me break down what makes this stick special. **THE BASICS:** Brand: Caldwell Cigar Company Origin: Nicaragua Vitola: Robusto (5" x 50) Strength: Full Price Range: $9-$13 **FIRST IMPRESSION:** When you light it up, you immediately notice the dark, rustic wrapper. This isn't a polished, pretty cigar—it's raw, bold, and unapologetic. The construction is solid. Good draw, even burn, dense smoke output. This is a cigar that demands respect. **THE FLAVOR JOURNEY:** 🔹 First Third: Immediate hit of black pepper and spice. Underneath, there's leather and earth. A touch of cocoa sweetness balances the intensity. The smoke is thick and bold right from the start. 🔹 Second Third: The profile deepens. Leather and tobacco dominate, with lingering pepper and spice. You get hints of dark chocolate and cedar. The strength builds but stays refined. This is full-bodied, but not harsh. 🔹 Final Third: Finishes strong with leather, pepper, and a subtle sweetness. The cocoa returns. Smoke stays thick and complex all the way to the nub. A slight woody note emerges at the very end. **THE VIBE:** This is a **bold, unapologetic cigar**. Perfect for when you want something powerful and no-nonsense. Great for a celebration, a moment of reflection, or just when you're in the mood for a full-bodied smoke that doesn't apologize for being intense. **MY TAKE:** Caldwell Long Live The King Mad MOFO is proof that you don't need a pretty wrapper to make an excellent cigar. This is raw, honest, and powerful. The blend is thoughtful—bold but balanced. The construction is flawless. And the experience is memorable. If you like full-bodied smokes with character, this is for you. Highly recommend. **PAIRING SUGGESTION:** Pairs beautifully with **bourbon** or **dark roast coffee**. The leather, pepper, and chocolate in the cigar complement the warmth and depth of a good bourbon perfectly. If you're going coffee, a dark, bold roast brings out the spice and earth notes. --- 💬 HAVE YOU TRIED THIS ONE?

@Rio Ray it's not as strong as a CAO Flathead or Cain, but it's full bodied. So, I think it could pair with just about any bourbon. I've had the Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel with one and ilthe flavors didn't get muted. Wild Turkey 101 or Evan Williams bottled in bond would pair well also.

The cigar gods are smiling! @DaVon Walker profiled the Caldwell, which is an excellent stogie. Now it's on sale at CP! https://www.cigarpage.com/redux-on-mondays-are-for-maduros.html

How do you like them apples?
This is the first time I've tried Southern Draw's Manzanita, which translates to "Little Apple." It's got a reddish hue to the wrapper, which is a Habano hybrid. It's a tasty one with a blast of spice right away that fades in intensity but doesn't go away totally. About 2 inches in, some sweetness comes through along with leather. This baby kept bringing the flavors and taste right until the end. It is a cigar that doesn't quite fade but isn't so strong that it gets bitter. It's rolled at AJ's Esteli location, so I knew buying some that the odds it being good were there. I didn't expect how good it would be. This cigar is going to go in my radar, in my rotation and humidor.

Lighting up the CAO Flathead Habana again… and I’m not the only one. Feels like this one has been in heavy rotation around the Clubhouse lately. Solid flavor, easy to enjoy, and just one of those cigars you keep going back to. Always interesting when the group starts gravitating toward the same stick. Who else has been smoking the Flathead Habana lately? Still hitting for you?

I had my first Saturday and it is a solid smoke. It stands out from the rest of the line by it's creamy notes added with a touch of spice. I lean towards medium/full cigars but I could see putting this in my lineup.
Upgraded my travel case
For years I've used a Herfador when I'm heading out of the house and smoke. While I enjoyed it, I found it was a bit of a pain to fit in cigars, my cutter, and lighter. I smashed one cigar when my zippo didn't lie flat and I closed the lid a little forcefully. Luckily, it was a crap cigar I was packing as a "just in case" stick, so no great loss. I saw @DaVon Walker and @Brandon Gilkey had bigger travel cases, so I figured I'd do some sleuthing and find one. Field Supply for the win! It's a good sized leather case, hold four cigars with pouches on the other side for my lighter and cutter. I paid $30 on sale and free shipping. Cigar Page, the sister site, had it for $45. Exact same brand and everything. Woo hoo! Feels solid and has a heavy duty zipper. I am impressed! https://www.fieldsupply.com/other/cigars-lighters/humidors/wabash-tannery-citadel-leather-humidor.html

I enjoy mostly full strength cigars, paired with Scotch, Bourbon or Rye.
