Psalm 18 setting
Here's something I've been working on. More in the devotional space, but I'm trying to see if there would be a way to adapt it to something a bit more singable. Would love any ideas! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LIbVxyO-kuI

Yeah, that’s an awesome song. I love the vibe. I’m feeling it.
Pour Out Your Joy (updated version in comments)
I was thinking about how one of the fruits of the Spirit is joy, and how I long for joy to be present through life's uncertainty and pain. -I sang "loose" (as in "release") since it's a nice active verb, but something about it isn't sitting right - does it sound too demanding? Too easily confused with "lose"? 😅 -Seemed like it needed a refrain as a break from all the words, but I'm not sure about it... -I've tried several different melodies for this thing and am still not sure! I think I accidentally recycled a bit of melody from my last song...help! -I appreciate help with anything else you notice! Loose (Let/May?) your joy, O Holy Spirit, Like (Be?) a never-ending stream Through our brightest days of blessing And our darkest nights of pain, Flowing, steady, through our deserts Of anxiety and doubt; Lord, refresh us through our journey On this hard and holy ground. In the shadows of unknowing, In the shifting of the sands, When our lonely path is hidden And we cannot find/feel your hand, Let your fountains of rejoicing Sweeten even every fall, When we find our every misstep Fit your purpose all along. Placeholder: Spirit, loose your joy Spirit, loose your joy Through the fire of our trials Let it mingle with our tears, Through (For) the sting of loss and sorrow And the ache of wasted years Nothing can undo the promise (Cannot burn away the promise) Sealed with Jesus’ precious blood: All our grief will turn to gladness In an/your everlasting flood. Spirit, loose your joy...

@Keiko Ying before I give feedback I have some questions. When you’re writing this song who did you envisioned singing the song? Is it a modern congregation or older congregation? And are a hymn or contemporary type? Or both?

Sorry for the late response. Wiley Coyote ran into my car so life has been a little crazy. I love the song. I think it’s really great and also some of the updates that’s been done to it. You have an awesome voice. The melody is beautiful. It definitely has potential. In my head as I was listening to it I was thinking of a mix between a mix. Sense you explained how your congregation is of mix. I was thinking possibly rotating some of those words to fit both young and old. Kind of like hymnal meeting contemporary. Adding a little acoustic electric and some other instruments. Bringing it more to live. Yet keeping the same feel. If that makes any sense at all. Then again you don’t have to change anything. You can keep it as is because of some in your congregation those lyrics is what they understand. Personally I have been trying to play around with both styles. Though I’m more of a contemporary guy but generation we’re still singing hymns and once in a while I’ll hear a few here and there. Sorry if I’m talking too much.
Temporary Seasons
(Verse 1) It’s not for me to understand I know He got a master plan He knows exactly who I am Beyond my own little lenses Whenever I see disaster He always sees opportunity When I see a broken man He sees beautiful pieces When life is not looking bright It’s all for a reason (Pre-Chorus) It might be pouring outside And the rain keeps coming down I know there’s hope beyond the clouds That turns my frown into a smile (Chorus) These temporary seasons Bears fruit that I’ve been missing God knows what I’ve been needing He let it rain so I can grow, ou oh (Verse 2) If I’m just looking at the bad every bad thought in my head That sometimes lead to regrets Got me asking if You’re there They are just distractions You’re working for my good When my heart is saddened I gotta keep my eyes on You So when the weather changes You are changing me too (Pre-Chorus) It might be pouring outside And the rain keeps coming down I know there’s hope beyond the clouds That turns my frown into a smile (Chorus) These temporary seasons Bears fruit that I’ve been missing God knows what I’ve been needing He let it rain so I can grow, ou oh (Bridge) We only want good We don’t want bad He’s in the midst of it all In the sunshine Even in the rain He’s working it out (Bridge) We only want good We don’t want bad He’s in the midst of it all In the sunshine Even in the rain He’s working it out (Pre-Chorus) It might be pouring outside And the rain keeps coming down I know there’s hope beyond the clouds That turns my frown into a smile (Chorus) These temporary seasons Bears fruit that I’ve been missing God knows what I’ve been needing He let it rain so I can grow, ou oh (Closing) These temporary seasons Ouuuu, Ouuuuu, Ouuuuuu He let it rain so I can grow, ou oh Written by: Jaurel Michel Solid Muzic Records

@Keiko Ying Sorry for the late response. Thank you for taking the opportunity to listen. It is a finish song. I am a hooky that of guy. I love a good hook. It makes writing a lot more sampler. The inspiration behind the music was to view seasons in a different way. It’s a thinking song. Feedbacks are still welcomed and greatly appreciated.

@Keiko Ying I appreciate the feedback. I’m encouraged. I definitely see your perspective and understand where you’re coming from. I can see it going the way you described. I’m gonna also take note on that for future songs that haven’t been written yet. Mentioned it also to who officially end up singing that song. All the songs I’ve written kind seal but the feedbacks are necessary because I still have a million songs to write. I can keep all the feedbacks into consideration. Thank you again. Looking forward this week to giving you guys some feedbacks on your music.
Listen Room
