Hi all, I'm an 84 year old Canadian woman, and I used to work in the Computing Services dept at a university in Ontario. I have a continuing keen interest in things technical, and am really jazzed (and a bit worried) about how AI is reshaping the world. I want to explore how best it can be used by seniors to assist in their daily living. I live now in a retirement residence and I know many seniors still use their computers and smartphones, but they have no idea of how to use AI, nor how it can help them in any way. Most online AI Learning "tutorials" lean toward business uses, but seniors want to have a few simpler, practical things, like a reminder system for appointments & other commitments, or help summarizing information input, or suggestions for financial and legal and health decisions in their own province of Canada. There are so many practical things for everyday living that my Claude helps me with, and I'm sure I will use "him" more as I learn about creating agents. Trust is my big issue. Do I let Claude look at my financial information files on my laptop? Do I let "him" actually DO things with my files on my computer? I'm hoping that being in this group will help me with all that. Then I can teach other seniors!

I'm a real estate investor, and I use AI to acquire properties and run my business. I currently use 3 x $20 subscriptions. Anthropic, Open AI and Nous Portal. Eventually I will use just Nous Portal @ $20 a month, but it won't fully cut it for my needs. So I set out to repurpose some old hardware. - Hardware / Software specs at the bottom. I slapped a couple of Nvidia 3070's w/8G ea. into an old gaming system I had laying around. I was worried about having the 16G split across two 8 GB cards over the PCIe lanes, but both buses are 16x and the CPU supports 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes. "Oldie but a goodie" I had to use Ubuntu 24.04 since 26.04 had all kinds of issues with this dinosaur. I finally got the operating system on the box, hardware tested and verified and got it stabilized with no overclocking, all base stuff. The best model I could find that fit on my old hardware was the Gemma 4-12B. It runs 100% Vram with zero CPU bleed. So I was ready to run my use cases against it versus the cloud. I ran Two side-by-side tests on my Web Scraping of Zip codes to find properties. Tested 85053 and 85022 using one live, read-only collection. Hey everyone! I'm just curious,is it possible to set up Claude co work from an Android mobile/tablet device? Or does it need to run on a PC only?

I started using Fable 5 today, and this thing is pretty damn smart. I haven't used Claude desktop in a week or so, and since this came out, I decided to use it, and I'm glad I did. I guess you can only use it until June 22nd, and then they pull it out.
