An ultrasound machine is out of the question for a few years so I'm trying to get better at "reading" my females. Does anyone know, roughly, what size follicles will a female have when she potentially goes off food? Is it different for most snakes? What other signs can you go on to determine prime time to make pairings?

I heard someone say once that when their mindset switched from a 'snaker breeder who has rats to a rat breeder who has snakes' their operation become much better. Here is a new rat rack I built. I like the maternity style of keeping rats, I can keep track of who is still producing and it keeps squabbles down to a minimum. The idea with this rack is to keep 1.3 in the big tub to the left. When a female gets pregnant, put her in a tub to the right. This allows me to do a number of things like monitor which females need replaced or even which males need replaced. Who breeds their own feeders and whats your style?

I am kicking around the idea of moving this to 9am eastern on Saturdays. Maybe not everyone gets up as early as me on Saturday, and the it would be even tougher for the west coast. Thoughts?

Next Saturday 6 am eastern? I know that’s early but that’s why it’s coffee hour. We can get focused and get motivated for the day. Any interest? If so, topic ideas? I was thinking maybe - What are everyone’s goals for the year?
