Mentoring classes and additional classwork will officially begin Monday, March 2nd.This is a one-week delay from our original schedule. We made this decision intentionally so we can ensure everything is fully prepared to support you as you navigate mentoring hours alongside aligned coursework. New Learning Resources Coming We are also partnering with a well-known vocal coach, along with piano and guitar coaches, who will be providing at-home study videos. These resources are being added to help you grow consistently outside of live sessions. In the meantime, you can: - Watch the videos already posted in the classroom - Review manuals and handbooks currently available - Use the mentor links provided to connect with them on TikTok Connecting With Mentors on TikTok When visiting mentor live streams: - Follow the mentor and turn on the notification bell so you know when they go live - Introduce yourself as a SoundRise Academy student so mentors can recognize and connect with you - Please be respectful when entering their lives or joining other creators’ lives. These are not official SoundRise mentoring sessions unless specifically scheduled in the Skool Calendar, but public streams for all TikTok Users. Important Creator Setup (Do This Now) If you are creating beats, lyrics, songs, instrumentals, or classical tracks for upload or live performance: Register as a creator at www.BMI.com (Free to Register)This is a major source of royalty collection and is essential in addition to uploading your music to streaming platforms. For distribution, we recommend DistroKid. If you are using CD Baby we highly discourage this as they have been known to keep royalties of independent artists and claim right to the artists work. If you need help with uploading to distrokid and you do not wish to do this on your own please reach out to myself, Ms. Queen, or Diandra Renee for additional help.

I've seen many people that are independent roll out a song everyday. The Problem with that it doesn't let the audience have the suspense of wanting to know more or to get that hype feel of wanting more but having to wait for it. I know mine is a single or album every month and that's also a bit much.

I’ve been using Distrokid to put songs out there on Spotify and other social media platforms. I know people have purchased through Apple and listen on Spotify and yet Distrokid shows nothing sold or listened to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

As a lot of you know, I have been spending a lot of time in Focus Radio - Cypher School on TikTok - if you haven't made it to one of their live's yet, I highly recommend checking it out. Lots of creative people in there. While in there I made these two songs - One needs a hook, and work done, and I am collaborating with E.M. Devine to help and then for her to record it. Sometimes as an artist you know you have a really good hit but you just can't perform it because its so personal. The other song was made as an intro or anthem for the room, and the crew that spend hours together there. I highly recommend taking some time to explore other artists, or other groups because you never know what might spark creativity, and you never know if something they share is information you had no clue about! Not to mention, making friends, gets more support for yourself. Just be an honest, engaging, good person (yes that had to be said).
