Welcome! So happy to have you here!
Let's get this Philogyny Party started! Please introduce yourself and tell us what does philogyny-the love and admiration for women and girls mean to you? I'll start... I'm Augustine, author, cultural critic and mentor and philogyny to me is the possibility to shift our gaze. Much as weâve been taught to pay attention and call out misogyny, (a worthy cause), weâre not as focused on the opposite. The positive change and trends of where we have succeeded, so that we can replicate the results. Child marriage has declined worldwide. The happiest countries are run by women. Itâs been proven time and time again that when women have education and financial resources, it improves society overall. Much like feminism, though we have never defined it, philogyny has been in existence since the beginning of civilization. It is reflected in art, literature, human societal structure, historical events, mythology, philosophy, and spiritualism worldwide. Ok, so, philogyny. I want to keep repeating the word. I want to find proof of it. I want to make sure I pronounce it right. Like phyllo dough, but no, itâs not a recipe for Greek Spanakopita, itâs a recipe for the love and admiration for women and girls. Deriving from the Ancient Greek, philo meaning to love, and gynÄ meaning woman. Philogynyâthe antonym of the ever-present and increasingly urgent global crisis, misogyny. Philogynyâas a possible antidote to misogyny, its a word we've never heard of but one we can't live without!
