Jesus is ready to speak. The question is—are you listening?
I once saw a short video that deeply resonated with me. The scene was simple, but the message was profound. A young man sat at a table in a coffee shop, patiently waiting. The waiter approached and asked if he was ready to order, but he simply responded: "I have an appointment with someone. I'm just waiting." Hours passed, and finally, his appointment arrived. She sat down and immediately started talking—venting about her day, sharing her struggles, and pouring out her heart. Then, just as the young man (who represented Jesus) was about to respond, she stood up, said, "Goodnight, I’m tired," and walked away. She never gave Him a chance to speak. How often do we do the same? God desires intimacy with His children—not a monologue but a conversation. We set the appointment, we come into His presence, but sometimes we do all the talking and never pause long enough to hear His response. The Word of God says: “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) But how can we know Him if we don’t make time to listen? We cry out for direction, but God is already speaking. He is waiting at the table, ready to share wisdom, comfort, and divine strategy. The problem isn’t that God is silent—it’s that we are too distracted to hear. The Prophetic Dimension: Hearing & Responding Throughout Scripture, those who walked in the prophetic were those who not only spoke but listened. Samuel heard God’s voice, but he had to be still to recognize it. "Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening." (1 Samuel 3:9) Elijah expected God in the wind, earthquake, and fire—but God spoke in a whisper. "After the fire came a gentle whisper." (1 Kings 19:12) Jesus Himself only spoke what He heard from the Father. "Whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say." (John 12:50) If we want to walk in the prophetic, we must cultivate a lifestyle of hearing and obeying.
