July theme announcement
Drumroll please...... This month we're diving into CASUAL JACKETS. Whether you're making a classic denim jacket, a cosy shacket, a bomber, chore jacket, utility jacket, anorak, or your own take on an everyday layer, this is your chance to build new skills while creating something you'll actually wear. Over the next few weeks we'll work through the project together using the 6-part framework, breaking the process into manageable stages so you can make steady progress without feeling overwhelmed. No matter where you're starting from, jump in, share your plans, and don't be afraid to ask questions. The whole point of Sewing Boss Learning Lab is to learn from each other and raise the standard of our sewing together. Let's make July the month everyone adds an incredible jacket to their handmade wardrobe! Image can be found here

@Debra Verrall great!
Replay of Module 6 - Finished and Proud
And so our tshirt is complete! In this demo I show you how to sew - a neck band - a neck bind - the hem and what to do with the overlocking tail - and the importance of top stitching and pressing The camera angles are a little different as I was trying the webcam, but I am working on having two cameras so you can see more. I didn't realise the audio was funny while the machine was in use, so thats why my voice cuts out a few times. What can I say, this is a work in progress and I appreciate you all. I do disappear off camera to use the overlocker towards the end, but I promise I do come back 😆

Neatening seams
If you're in any sewing groups on FB you may have come across posts talking about sewing tshirts on overlockers/sergers and how the stitching can show on the wrong side. I mentioned it in the LIVE video the other day and explained how I always construct tshirts on the straight sewing machine first, then neaten on the overlocker. How do you do yours? Do you have any issues with the stitches showing on the right side if overlocking is your main construction method?

That’s a good tip.
Order of construction LIVE recording
In this mornings LIVE, I was talking through Module 5 where you decide your order of construction. While reading through your pattern instructions is always your first step, I want you to be sure you can follow it, and adjust to suit your own needs. Other points I included were • how to add a binding finish • how to add a band finish • why stretching the band or binding is essential for a flat finish • why adding details early is easier Im excited to see you making a start on your tshirts - we're so close to finishing!!!

I am going to do this when i get back from o/s, but I need to check again if you think my stretch fabric is right for the pattern or I need to change the pattern I chose to suit the fabric.
In-seam pockets anywhere you like!
After promising to do an in-seam pocket demo in this post here, Ive got it ready for you. I'd love to see how you go, and if this is how you'd do yours.
