Hi everyone! I'm Jamie Wood, a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) with a BBA in Business Management and Marketing and over 20 years of experience. I'm the owner of Wood's Veterinary Consulting, where I focus on helping veterinary practices strengthen their operations, develop effective leadership, build healthier teams, and improve profitability without compromising quality patient care. One area I'm especially passionate about improving is practice culture through psychological safety, leadership development, and team empowerment. I believe that when we invest in our people and give them the tools, confidence, and support to succeed, everything else improves—from patient care and client relationships to employee retention and financial performance. I'm excited to connect, exchange ideas, explore the resources here, and continue learning from others who share the same passion for moving veterinary medicine forward!
The Durable Vet Brief - Are You Signed-Up?
Twice per month I email a unique and usable recourse for the vet team. You can JOIN HERE to receive access. Here's some of what you missed in the last edition (join now and you'll still get this guide). ===== Your hands are performance tools. Veterinary professionals rely on an extraordinary combination of: • Precision • Grip strength • Pinch strength • Endurance • Rotational control Whether you're performing surgery, placing catheters, handling instruments, restraining patients, or managing countless repetitive tasks, your hands and forearms absorb thousands of repetitions every week. Yet very few veterinary professionals intentionally train these tissues. That's a missed opportunity. Because durability isn't simply about avoiding injury. It's about preserving: ✓ Strength ✓ Confidence ✓ Performance ✓ Career longevity The stronger and more resilient your tissues become, the less demanding many clinical tasks begin to feel. ===== The average veterinary professional spends years developing clinical skills and almost no time developing the physical durability needed to support those skills. The Durable Vet Brief was created to change that.

I love this. I’ve been in Veterinary medicine for over 20 years and my body has paid greatly for it. I had to just get the work done and not pay attention to my body. There were 12 or 13 hour shifts where I didn’t even go to the bathroom. I got home at the end of the night and realized the last time I went to the bathroom was before I left for work. Lunch was always a special treat, if you got to stop and eat it. Rather than just shoving it in your face and going back to work or eating while you’re working, which is mostly what I did. I’m glad that you have this channel so that those starting out in the Veterinary industry understand the physical requirements and can better prepare their bodies for this while also setting some boundaries. Leaders need to understand as well.

@Aaron Shaw Me too! That is why I started in here (Skool). There are only 1,017 CVPMs in the nation. There are over 58,000 practices. Very few have access to this knowledge and they need it in order to grow and thrive. How can I make a difference here? So I decided to create my channel in order to help more people in the industry. There is so much work to do!
Happy to be here
I am a veteran in Veterinary medicine. I’m a CVPM with over 20 years of experience in the industry. I have walked away from running practices in it’s totality to consulting and speaking engagements. I enjoy helping veterinarians get their clinics in order and providing top-notch medicine and care. My dream has always been to raise the bar in Veterinary medicine. Providing better workplaces and efficiencies. My heart will always be in Veterinary medicine regardless of my role in it.

Hi Aaron! I couldn't agree more! As a CVPM with a BBA in Business Management and Marketing, I believe one of the greatest opportunities in veterinary medicine is building stronger systems while fostering a healthy, supportive practice culture. I'm especially passionate about psychological safety and team member empowerment. When employees feel heard, valued, and confident, they're more engaged, accountable, and better equipped to provide exceptional patient care. At the end of the day, strong systems and a positive culture go hand in hand. Happier, more confident teams lead to better patient care, stronger client relationships, improved retention, and ultimately greater profitability. It's about building practices where both people and patients thrive!
