Great End to Our Agility Season
Had an amazing weekend running CPE agility with my guy. We were 8/10 on our runs and the two we NQ’d on were due to training holes or me just flubbing the handling. Sucks when that happens but it just means there was so much great stuff in the run otherwise. Kyber also finished his Level 2 Handler title with his Q in Wildcard and he just needs two more Qs in Level 2 Standard to finish all titles at that level. (We might’ve finished that this weekend had my car not been stolen on Halloween causing us to miss our competition earlier this month). That finishes up our trials for the year and I think we definitely went out with a bang!

@Brenna Fender I was so proud of him. We still need some work but he laid down some really nice courses. One minor bobble in Level 5 Full House but this run was pretty close to perfect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erVdlxQALp0

@Brenna Fender Thanks! It's hard to come up with so many words between sports. LOL

@Kristine Hammar Thank you!
Good morning, dog friends!
How is everyone today? What are you working on with your dogs these days? My training time has been limited since I have been heavily invested in a work project that will hopefully be completed soon. I am also starting to promote the sale of my second book. Ready to Run, Volume. 2 Agility Skills and Drills for Small Spaces. (https://www.cleanrun.com/product/ready_to_run_vol_2_agility_skills_drills_for_small_spaces/index.cfm). If you are on the Clean Run mailing list, you might get some free nested courses from me today. If not today, soon... I am not in charge of that :) If you aren't on the list, if you go to cleanrun.com, you can sign up. When the dust settles on the projects, I want to complete the Nine for November Challenge with my 13-year-old Border Collie. She definitely could have slayed this challenge in her day but it is going to be a little harder with bad vision and arthritis. I will need to pick the right behaviors to showcase. Anyway, I am glad to check in with you all and I hope that you will let me know what you're up to in the comments section!

@Brenna Fender Yes, this is a musical freestyle routine. It's not totally unrelated to Rally-FrEe as much of the foundations are similar. Rally-FrEe is just more like a rally course with signs and things telling you what to do. Here's a Rally-FrEe run for comparison (with Kyu): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A22jzYGV_eo

@Brenna Fender Kyu was the sweetest. I miss him SO MUCH. There are four signs on every course (regardless of level) that are Free Choice. Depending on the behaviors you choose, you can earn up to 5 additional points on top of the 10 total you could earn at each station.
Welcome!
I'm excited to offer an opportunity to share my passion of supporting dog sport competitors, trainers, and enthusiasts in working with their dogs at home or in other small space environments. I envision this community to be a positive and supportive space for people in which people can learn, chat, and have fun! I hope to present opportunities and information for training dog agility, disc, rally, parkour, nose work, and more, and offer the chance to make real improvements in your training and competition performance while working with your dog at home. I'd also like to support and explore offering more video competitions like one I hosted this summer, which was a lot of fun. Please introduce yourself and share pictures of your dog(s). I would love to know what sports you participate in, where you live, and anything else you want to share! If you want to read my bio and learn more about who I am in terms of dog training, please visit my instructor page in the Clean Run Learning Center. You can also visit my website, www.brennafender.com, and check out my first book, Ready to Run, Vol. 1, Agility Skills and Drills for Small Spaces. I've got some big, fun things ahead and I'm hoping to share them with a community of dog sport enthusiasts who want to be kind to each other and talk dog sports! (Please read the rules before posting!) More to come! --Brenna PS-Want to start your own Skool community? You can use my link (please and thank you)!

@Dan Myers Wonderful!
Sometimes Forgotten Skills
Reinforcement only works if the dog knows how to access it. I love using treat holding toys in agility but not every dog immediately understands how to get the cookie out. It’s important to spend time training those skills before ever using the food toys to reinforce behaviors. I’m making the treat really easy for Kessel to access in the Treat Hugger and Lotus Ball but, even so, you can see it isn’t easy for her to get it. I won’t start using these for training until she’s confidently getting treats out consistently.
