This Friday: The Successful Home Studio
Hey everyone, Excited to announce that we're hosting a free event this Friday called "The Successful Home Studio". On this exclusive Zoom webinar you'll learn directly from Mastering.com alumni about how they have reached a professional level in their production, mixing and mastering skills. They'll be sharing their stories and best tips for how you can make fast progress with your music in 2026, and finally make the leap to industry-standard quality. This event will also act as an open day for anyone interested in our flagship program, The Reverse Engineer. It's your chance to learn more about how it works, what the day to day is like, the admissions process etc. Plus, we'll be sharing the details of a special New Year package for anyone who joins The Reverse Engineer before the end of January. It's a higher level of hands-on help than anything we've ever done before, so if you're thinking about joining anyway, be sure to come along to find out more. The Successful Home Studio takes place on Friday, January 16th, at 9am Pacific / 12pm Eastern Time / 5pm UK / 6pm Central European time. You can find the event in the Calendar section here in Skool, or by going to this link: https://www.skool.com/mastering/calendar?eid=2f259778fb3049189699265424fbf50a See you there, Rob

@Brian Maxwell, things are good, looking up I hope. There’s so much I didn’t learn when I cut a couple full-length demos eons ago. I want to be either close enough to the process to know what to tell a mastering engineer, or to control my own songs from end-to-end. Trying not to eat the whole elephant in one bite. How about you, @Brian Maxwell ?
Studio One Pro 7 Missing Plugins
First time asking a question on the forum. I’m using Studio One with a custom-built PC. All of my plugins are downloaded to the same folders, but some never appear available when recording/arranging, no matter how many times I rescan. Short of uninstalling/deleting/reinstalling, any suggestions?

@Jason Van Deman Thank you. I’d noticed that Studio One would show my blocked VSTs on startup, but never knew how to get them unblocked. There were only two, but I’ve got them unblocked and working. Sweet! Happy holidays, and here’s hoping 2026 goes triple platinum.

@Les Konley thank you. That was actually the case with a couple of ‘em!
The Mastering Makeover (starts Monday)
Hey everyone, Hope you all enjoyed the holiday period, now it's time to get back to it! We're kicking off 2026 with a bang starting Monday, Jan 5th... With a brand new free virtual event called "The Mastering Makeover", hosted in partnership with Woodstock Audio. Over the span of 2 days, we'll master real attendee submissions while teaching professional mastering techniques along the way. You can submit your track for a live makeover, or learn by watching your others tracks get mastered. Either way, you'll learn how to diagnose problems, push back on mixes that aren’t ready, and make the transformational decisions that create release-ready masters. You can find the event here in the Skool calendar: https://www.skool.com/mastering/calendar?calDate=1767383608&eid=e476ab35774c42b098b291a9cea8d466&eoid=1767632400 Here is the link to submit your mix for live mastering (please upload a stereo WAV file, without a limiter applied): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfIcX0rOCjpMAwF4QR4h-qvo94XXzypR6YiHmdKrEiNgy_rng/viewform?usp=publish-editor (deadline 9am Eastern on Monday) Note, it is not guaranteed we will choose your track for the event, but anyone can submit. 🚨 ALSO - for the first time ever, we will be hosting a special "Backstage" session for Premium and VIP members. This will take place immediately after each day of the event, and is an opportunity for you to get 1:1 coaching (mic on, video on, DAW open if needed) and ask questions about the topic of the event, get feedback on your music, or anything else you need help with. If you're not already a member, be sure to upgrade here before the event starts to get Backstage access: https://www.skool.com/mastering/plans

I have a good reason to make sure I’m awake before noon now! Thank you!

@André Wessel, which I’ll be glad to watch repeatedly for reference when I start finishing up my first several songs. … Or if I’m not awake in time for the event! 😁 Cheers & happy new year!
If Santa offered to bring you a single piece of audio gear…
What would it be? Right now… for me it would be a toss up between a Massive Passive, Pultec… or The Swift from Thermionic Culture. I’ll let you know if I decide 🤷‍♂️

Either a Shure SM7B mic with CL1 Cloudlifter kit or acoustic treatment for my sad office/studio

@Janice McWilliams if you get one first, lemme know how you like it. I’m torn between the Shure and the AT 4040. I’ve never bought a mic.
Programs for DAW
Ditto, to all at Reverse Engineer. Using Studio One as recommend by Jake. Really blown away at what it can do better than Pro Tools, at least you don't have to be online to use it Anyway enough said.

I started with Studio One 7 Pro, and will likely never change. Some of the functions aren’t intuitive for a noob, and it has some quirks & glitches. I’m getting there!
