The CSCS Accelerator Quiz App
It wasn't on my 2026 bingo card to add "App Developer" to my resume. But then Canvas crashed, and with that, we lost one of the most robust features of our CSCS Accelerator Course, one that I had put HUNDREDS of hours into curating. The Canvas Quiz platform was robust enough to handle question and answer randomization, immediate vs delayed feedback, multiple question banks, and many other useful learning features. And as hard as I've tried, I haven't found a better platform for our CSCS practice quizzes and practice exams. So I built my own. And CSCS Accelerator Course members get access to it. TODAY. Look for an email with the heading "Welcome to the CSCS Accelerator Quiz App." It contains a link that expires within 24 hours (Why does it expire? Because I couldn't figure out how to change that setting. If you miss it, just let me know). Once you sign up, start your practice! And please know that this is a web-based, beta version of the app. There are still features I'm working on, some formatting issues, and possibly some user interface issues. But by and large, it's ready to rock. If you are interested in joining the next cohort of the CSCS Accelerator Course before it fills up, you can find all the details here: https://www.drjacobgoodin.com/ The live sessions kick off August 3rd, but once you sign up you'll gain immediate access to the course, as well as the Accelerator Quiz App ahead of public release.

VIP: Added Periodization Infographics
Great lecture today on the fundamentals of periodization! For those registered for the CSCS Accelerator course, the infographics we I created based on chapter 21 periodization concepts are posted here for you to download from our resource section. Click here if you'd like to join the waitlist for the next Cohort that launches later this summer!

These are great! Thank you Dr. Goodin!
Biomechanics Concepts: Mechanical Advantage
Definition: Mechanical advantage describes how effectively a muscle or external load can produce torque around a joint, based largely on moment arm length. In resistance training: - When a muscle’s internal moment arm is large relative to the external moment arm, the muscle has a mechanical advantage and can produce force more efficiently. - When the external moment arm is large, the muscle is at a mechanical disadvantage and must produce more force to move the load. Example: At the bottom of a squat, changes in hip and knee moment arms can shift mechanical advantage between the glutes, quadriceps, and spinal extensors, influencing which muscles are stressed most. Why This Matters for Coaches - Explains why exercises feel harder at certain joint angles - Guides exercise selection and modification - Helps manage joint stress and tissue loading - Clarifies how changes in stance, grip, or range of motion alter difficulty without changing load So when you change body position or setup, you’re changing mechanical advantage and how much force the muscle must generate. This—along with individual anthropometric variation—is one reason why certain variations of a lift are harder or easier for various athletes. Question: What are some exercise variations or setups you use to alter mechanical advantage for yourself or your athletes?

Glad you're here! This community is built for coaches, CSCS candidates, and performance-minded professionals who take their craft seriously. 👉 In your first post, tell us: - Who you are and what you do - Where you're at in your CSCS journey (or if you're already certified, what you're working on now) - A fun fact—either about your coaching, your training, or just something that makes you you - And post a photo of your training space—whether it’s a garage gym, college weight room, or the local fitness club. We want to see it! This is your space to level up, get real answers, and connect with others who are serious about performance—let’s raise the standard together.

Hi Everyone, I'm Jamie. My formal education is not in fitness, but I grew as an athlete (figure skater) and then got into running after I hung up my skates. I have a BFA in graphic design, and two Master's degrees in Education. I'm in upstate NY and about 15 years ago, right when I got out of grad school, it was really had to find a teaching job, so I started working as a personal trainer. I now have my own personal training studio, and have accumulated multiple training certificate. Started with NASM CPT and NASM CES. Most recently I completed Percision Nutrition Level 1, UESCA Nutrtion for Endurance Athletes and UESCA Run Coach. I took Dr. Goodin's CSCS Accelorator course this past fall and hoping to take the test this spring or early summer. I really want to focus my business in on training athletes and I wanted to push myself to better understand program design. Studying with 2 little kids at home is not always easy though.
