Introducing one voice
Firstly admin I hope this is allowed! If not sorry and delete :) INTRODUCING ONE VOICE https://www.facebook.com/share/1D8A6Z4r7e/?mibextid=wwXIfr I wanted to take a minute to explain why I’ve created One Voice, because for me this isn’t just an idea or a project. It’s personal. It started with my son Ellis and his journey through football. As a parent, I’ve experienced the worries, the questions, the frustration and sometimes the feeling of not knowing what the right thing to do is when your child needs a little bit more understanding. But it also comes from my own experience of being neurodiverse and living with ADHD. I know what it can feel like when people don’t always understand the way you think, communicate or react. I know that sometimes what looks like a child being difficult, lacking concentration or not listening can actually be something completely different. That’s why I decided I wanted to learn more. I’ve completed courses around coaching and supporting neurodiverse children, and I’ve been learning about reasonable adjustments, communication and how coaches, clubs and parents can work together to give children the support they need. One Voice is still in its very early stages. I’m not claiming to have all the answers, and I’m certainly not here to tell coaches that they are doing things wrong. I’m here because I want to help. If you’re a parent who is struggling and doesn’t know where to turn, a coach who has a neurodiverse player and wants some advice, or a club that wants to become more inclusive — reach out. Even if I don’t know the answer, I’ll try to help you find it. I don’t want One Voice to be about making money. I want it to be about support, understanding and inclusion. Because every child deserves the chance to play football without feeling like they don’t belong. If One Voice can make things a little easier for one parent, one coach, one club or one child, then everything I’ve put into this will be worth it.
