Thanks for sharing, Amber 🔥 This is just one of several things we’re working on this year to help make the earth oven building process easier and more attainable for anyone who’s up for the challenge of creating their own backyard wood-fired oven. ✨ These are great projects for friend groups 👥, families ❤️, homeschool groups 📚, church groups ⛪, and communities looking to come together and build something meaningful. We are even working on processes that will help make building an oven possible for someone how wants to take on the challenge of building one solo. 💪 Our goal is to make these ovens more accessible while bringing people together through creativity 🎨, good food 🍞, natural materials 🌱, and the joy of creating something with your own hands. 🙌

@Victoria Quinney we'll let you know when the course is live, we should have the first module live very soon.
🌎 Building a Community Network
My goal is to make building a backyard wood-fired oven more approachable by sharing resources, collaborating on ideas, and developing techniques that simplify the construction process making it easier for anyone to build a backyard oven. While this community is based in the Southern United States, I hope we can grow "Build Networks" across the country. Imagine being able to connect with people nearby, helping one another build ovens, hosting neighborhood pizza parties, and create lasting traditions centered around cooking with fire, good food, and community. ❤️ 👋 We’d Love to Know You! Share something with the group: - 📸 If you have built an outdoor oven, share a photo of an oven you built or helped build - 📍 Where you're located (this helps us start to build local networks)  - 🔥 A oven photo or video you find inspiring

🌎 Let the Mud Journey Begin!
We have a growing community here in South Carolina, and there's a lot happening behind the scenes. Many of the people involved have been working together for years to explore natural building, wood-fired cooking, and community-centered projects. This Skool Collective is our opportunity to welcome even more people into that journey. It's a place to share ideas, ask questions, learn new skills, and help shape projects that bring people together. One of my biggest goals is for this Skool Collective to become an idea workshop: a place where anyone can share an idea, receive thoughtful feedback, and, when there's enough interest, work together to turn that idea into reality. Our focus is creating real-world connections. To spend less time behind screens and more time building, cooking, learning, and sharing meals together. My hope is that the projects we develop here can strengthen local communities and become models that others can recreate across the country. If you have an idea, bring it. If you're looking for a project to join, you're in the right place. Let's get our hands dirty and see what we can build together. 📅 Upcoming Events 🛠️ July 18 – First Build Lab @ Treehouse Trade School • Seneca, SC 🍕 July 25 – Private Community Oven Build, Near Columbia, SC 💻 August 4 – New Member Welcome Call (Online) 🔥 August 29 – Wood-Fired Oven Build Workshop @Treehouse Trade School • Seneca, SC (Limited Space – Ticketed Event) 💻 September 1 – New Member Welcome Call (Online) 💡 September 3 – Online Build Lab & Hearth and Hand Convergence Planning Call 🔥 Hearth and Hand Convergence This fall we're planning the first Hearth and Hand Convergence, a community-wide celebration centered around Clay • Fire • Community. The vision is to build community connections through oven builds, hands-on workshops, cooking with fire, bread making, shared meals, and other activities that bring people together. Our core team is already working on this, but it's still in the early planning stages. We expect to have event details to share by the mid August. If you'd like to be involved in the planning process just reach out. Everything we create is built through collaboration, and our goal is to develop ideas that can be shared and recreated by communities everywhere.

First Community "Build Lab" Seneca, South Carolina
For any members near Seneca, SC, you are welcome to join us for our first community “Build Lab” on July 18th at the The Seneca Treehouse Project! Build Labs are community gatherings where we test, research, and experiment with new ideas that can improve the oven-building process and make the process easier for others to build. For this first Build Lab, we'll be constructing a reusable form block set made from stabilized earth. If successful, this system would reduce the materials needed to build a 36-inch oven and eliminate the need to create the temporary sand form. That means sourcing less materials, less build energy, and a faster overall build. We'll be documenting the entire process so others in the community can replicate it, test it, improve it, and continue experimenting 🤜🤛 If you enjoy hands-on building, problem-solving, and helping develop better techniques for the wood-fired oven community, we'd love to have you join us!❤️

Build Lab Update (7/18) Our first Build Lab definitely uncovered several challenges as we worked to construct the reusable block set using stabilized earth. The biggest obstacle was the amount of labor and time required to produce enough blocks for the dome. We also realized we didn't yet have a clear system in place to make the best use of everyone's time and effort. Establishing a better workflow will be a major focus in future Build Labs. Another challenge was producing blocks with consistent circler dimensions. We found it difficult to shape them uniformly, and the brick-making process left sizable gaps in some of the forms, which would affect the overall quality of the finished block set. The good news is that we've already identified several potential ways to improve the design and process New direction, today (7/29), a few of us are visiting our local makerspace to explore whether we can 3D print the block set and the cost associated with this process. If successful, this could have a finished product ready for use for my next oven workshop on 8/29 Every challenge brings us one step closer to developing a processes to make oven building easier and more attainable for everyone.
