👕 What If Your T-Shirt Could Promote Your Business?
A few days ago, I shared how we transformed Julianne Anderson's traditional website into a simple, one-page Link-in-Bio at Julianne4History.com. But there's another part of Julianne's story I want to share. Julianne loves picking — hunting for vintage treasures, collectibles, and pieces of history. She also has two communities, Retro Riches Archive and Ricochet, that she's passionate about growing. And she had a dream. She wanted to wear her own branded T-shirts while she was out picking, promoting what she loves and the communities she's building. So we made it happen! 👕 We designed a T-shirt with her branding on the front and a custom QR code on the back. And here's where it gets interesting... 📱 ONE QR CODE. TWO COMMUNITIES. ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES. When someone scans the QR code on Julianne's shirt, they're taken directly to her new Link-in-Bio page. From there, they can: ✅ Explore Retro Riches Archive ✅ Join her Ricochet community ✅ Shop her vintage finds on eBay ✅ Connect with Julianne through her contact form ✅ Follow her on social media No complicated URLs to remember. No business cards to hand out. Just a conversation, a quick scan, and a connection. And because the QR code points to her Link-in-Bio, Julianne can update her links, offers, and content anytime without printing new shirts. That's what I love about combining EZ Bio with QR codes. Your marketing doesn't have to be complicated, expensive, or even digital to start a digital connection. Sometimes, all it takes is a T-shirt! 👏 Congratulations, Julianne! I love seeing your ideas come to life. 💬 Here's a question for everyone: If you could put a QR code on something you wear or carry every day, what would it be?

@Jeff Baer @James Blackburn - coming from a screen printing background (and I still do a fair bit as a hobbyist,) it should hold up pretty well - especially if it's an actual screen print vs. a transfer. Transfers can kind of peel in odd ways, which might make them a little suspect after a while - but traditional screen printing (with Plastisol or adjacent inks) would hold up just fine. It fades and wears pretty uniformly - and something with this kind of detail would probably still be readable after 10 years of washing. Transfers, maybe a little less - but you're still likely talking years before it degenerates enough to be illegible to a camera. And, frankly, QR tech (with all it's checks and double-checks) has gotten good enough that it can parse even really junky prints.
🧰 What Tool Should I Add to EZ Bio Next?
I’m looking at a few 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 I could add to EZ Bio, and I’d rather build something you’ll actually use. Some of these names are a little technical, so here’s what they actually do: ⭐ 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 Ever notice the tiny logo next to a website name in your browser tab? That’s a favicon. This tool takes your logo or image and creates properly sized favicon files for your website. 📱 𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗖 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 If you take photos with an iPhone, you may have run into a .𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗖 file that a website, app, or other service won’t accept. This will quickly convert HEIC photos into more universally usable JPG or PNG images. ✂️ 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 Upload a photo or logo and automatically remove the background—great for profile photos, products, logos, flyers, websites, and social media graphics. I have other tools on my list too, but I want to hear from you first. 👇 𝗜𝗳 𝗜 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂? And if you have an idea for a simple tool you wish existed inside 𝗘𝗭 𝗕𝗶𝗼, drop it in the comments. 𝗜’𝗺 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗯𝗼𝘅 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

@Jeff Baer - no kidding. HEICs are a pain, though. I’d love to have a dedicated tool so I didn’t have to rely on Photoshop as much.

@Jeff Baer - absolutely.
Your Images Are Bigger Than They Need to Be 📸
A great-looking image shouldn’t slow everything down. Large image files can make websites and Link-in-Bio pages load slower, make emails unnecessarily heavy, and create a worse experience—especially for someone viewing on their phone. That’s where 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 comes in. Compression reduces the file size of an image while keeping it looking sharp. That means: ⚡ Faster-loading websites 📱 Faster Link-in-Bio pages 📧 Lighter, more email-friendly images 💾 Smaller files that are easier to upload and share 😊 A better experience for the person on the other side of the screen And you don’t need Photoshop or another complicated tool to do it. 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗘𝗭 𝗕𝗶𝗼. I recorded a quick video walkthrough showing you how to take a large image, compress it, and get a much smaller file that's ready to use. It only takes a few seconds. 👇 Watch the walkthrough and give the Image Compressor a try. 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲. 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲. 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

@Jeff Baer - depending on the client, I will almost always recommend Siteground. It's not the fastest or cheapest (though it IS cheap and pretty fast,) but they have great customer support and they allow you to access some of the deeper end of hosting if need be. Affiliate link, OK'd by The Big Man Jeff: https://www.siteground.com/go/bluedozendesign If the client is techy or has bigger needs, there are other options - but for the vast majority of clients, they need something simple that just WORKS. Godaddy is... meh and expensive for what it is. Hostgator is horrible. Namecheap's servers are not horrible, but not great. Moving a WordPress site is usually very simple, but it's different for each server. The more access you have to the actual hosting environment (like with Siteground,) the easier and faster it is. In the end, it really just amounts to moving a bunch of files and a single database. THE BIG CAVEAT: Emails. If you have custom emails (@yourdomain.com,) it can be a complete pain in the ass. Don't get me started...

@Jeff Baer - absolutely. With Gmail, it's a record addition and you're done. With the others... a LOT more.

@Jeff Baer - we ran the numbers. For us to take our kids for a week, it would cost 10k - and that's if we ate peanut butter and jelly for the week.

How many Chrome tabs do you have open right now? 👀
If your answer is somewhere between “a lot” and “please don’t ask,” you might want to try this. Chrome now has Vertical Tabs built in. Instead of squeezing a ridiculous number of tabs across the top of your browser, you can move them to the side where you can actually read the page titles. First, make sure Chrome is up to date: 👉 Click ⋮ in the upper-right 👉 Help → About Google Chrome 👉 Let Chrome update if needed Then: 👉 Right-click the empty space next to your tabs 👉 Select Show tabs vertically That's it. It’s a small change, but if you spend most of your day bouncing between tabs like I do, it makes Chrome feel a whole lot more organized. Anyone else using vertical tabs yet? Or are you still living dangerously with 37 tiny favicons across the top? 😂

I use Firefox, and I have a lot of tabs open, but separated into working pots.
