Wish me luck! A lot riding in this. Possible outcomes: surgery goes smoothly I comeback better than I have ever been. Option 2: they stick an illostomy on me and training is gonna be close to impossible (despite this I will still try to find a way).
Little update: I’m out of the woods now. Had a discussion with the surgeons finally looks like this illostomy is only for 6 to 12 months hopefully the waiting list won’t keep me waiting 3 years this time. I had a discussion with my master and we are gonna try keeping me in the game helping out with the kids and sticking to palgwe’s and some light cardio. I should be out of here in a few days hopefully. I want to thank everyone here for the kind encouragement and support
@Kele Smith I’m upto 8 I had already learned it, I was going for probationary black so I would have to do 2, 5, 6, 7 and then 8 when we rank up from here we must repeat our forms (usually only current and previous 2).
Water for me, can’t eat till after training it may change after my surgery but I have to always make sure I haven’t eaten before training to keep the colostomy bag empty. So I fast from 10pm till 10pm 6 day a week
Fantastic tips. This will help me towards my form testing. We still use the old palgwe type forms but these tips will carry over. I get graded slightly differently to my other classmates. Having done multiple karate styles my master basically grades me on if I’m “still doing karate in my foms”. Which does make it a lot harder when it comes to coaching. There’s a lot of nuance when being taught like this because you don’t always get the little things hashed out when being taught like this, I often get the old “something doesn’t look right even though the technique was identical”. Thank you again Master Cong for the fantastic advice
