What are you grateful for…
This holiday weekend I am overwhelmed with gratitude for my family and the time I have this weekend to spend with them. They are the reason I am building this space. I would love to know what all of you are doing and what you are most grateful for right now?

Grateful to understand. Understand that we are blessed in our lives. Family, friends, and all things that come with life
Reflection Time
I have been thinking a lot this week about the role that reflection plays in my main career as an educator and wondering how all of you are utilizing this tool in your day to day lives. Is it a daily, weekly or monthly practice for you? Do you do it at all? Do you do it too much and its slowing down your progress? Leave a note here and lets hear how reflection is working, or not working, for you...

Reflection is key. Some do it daily with journals and writings. Others speak to loved ones daily. My grandfather had decades worth of notes of his daily reflection's. I honestly would love to get in a groove of me time, down time to reflect outside of the car ride home lol. Love everyone else’s reflections thus far

@Anthony Patierno not at all. Used to be. A nice run at 4:30-5:00 go to the gym. And start my work day. Would be nice to restart that process
Lesson 8: Mastery at home
A castle built on a bad foundation is destined to collapse under pressure…agree or disagree? When I work with young players they always want to skip the fundamentals and get into more exciting things like shooting or skill moves. What is difficult to explain to them is that there basic movements are wrong for a soccer player so correcting their shot is impossible, unless we start with the basics. This is where the BEST athletes in the world started their journey. They committed, at home, all by themselves, to being elite at the fundamentals. I can honestly say, even my own progress in the sport is curved by my mastery of fundamentals. If my running technique was more refined I would have conserved more energy and been more fit. If my left foot dribbling was equal to my right I would have given away possession less on my left side. If my knowledge of the game tactically at the time was better I would have improved my performance across the board. At the time though, nobody was holding me accountable for that level of mastery and most importantly, I wasn’t holding myself accountable for it either. The book extreme ownership by Jocko Willink changed how I think fundamentally when it comes to growth and progress. If only I had read it my sophomore year of college…who knows how I would have progressed. I’m proud of what I did and now on a mission to help others reach heights they weren’t sure they could get to. Mainly by helping them realize that hours at home becoming a master when nobody is looking is really the highlight tape that players should be focusing on more than the goals from their Sunday league games. Would love to hear what all of you think about this story and what your “at home mastery” looks like right now for you or for your child.

Free Play allows the fun to come in. I remember going outside and running drills waiting for the season to start. Maybe I did pick up some bad technique, but I was learning. I like the comment about muscle memory. Putting in the work so the body knows and goes on autopilot. I like the thought of free play along with the training specific drills. As Coach says, catch the child in a place where they want to be successful. My favorite thing is kicking the ball around the house with my girls. It translated to the footwork and ball control in tight spaces.
What is your superpower?
I am wondering what you all feel is your personal superpower and how you share it with your families and the world around you.

Faith and the hope that good will always come out of a situation. The Faith sometimes is the lesson that someone or something is teaching us in the money of adversity. Processing the reasoning of Faith

@Anthony Patierno Keeping the faith is keeping the trust and bond with greatness. A peppercorn of faith will allow the mind to keep going. Belief that greatness is within you, if you see the activity/situation through the end, not to the end. Recognize the difference. Do not run to the finish line but through the finish line. Whicj way are we looking at the glass? Negative thinkers will acknowledge the good, their minds aren’t activated in that capacity. Optimistic people will acknowledge the bad, but are actively seeking the good.

Today is my joy. Both girls have games, the weather is better than yesterday so that’s a plus. We are enjoying our time as parents watching our girls do what they love. Games could have been a little later for a little more rest lol

@Anthony Patierno it’s not easy at first. Parents live through their kids. Have to remember we are working with blank slates. Keep the joy of your child
