I’m curious…if someone uses this sentence starter to address you about anything at all…what do you hear? I’ve been working a lot to determine which phrases need to be kicked out of youth sports coaching and parenting. To me this is a huge one. I wonder what other sentence starters you all think would be on this list. Let me know in the comments.

You need? We all prefer What I need is for you to….automatic shutdown. I hear something from someone with a lack of communication. The issue is as parents we say it without thinking. Also the delivery of something. You need to vs you need anything?
Don’t be a walking contradiction!!
I’m curious, what have you seen out there from parents and coaches that really grinds your gears? For me, it is most clearly when an adult tries to hold a child to a standard or core value that they very clearly do not hold themself to. And in fact, they so obviously don’t that their own athlete knows. This creates a toxic space for athletes and I believe results in many young players leaving sports too soon. What do you think…?

Over training, esp at an early age. Over training without understanding muscle and physiology of athletics. Leading to mental and physical breakdown/burnout earlier then usual.
Hello out there…
Sorry for being MIA for the past few weeks. I have been taking some time to really focus on the students, athletes, families and people closest to me as we head into summer. It has allowed me time and space to find some clarity on my path forward here with NOGA FC. Thank you all for hanging around. I promise there is some cool stuff to come in the next few weeks. I have one big question for anyone still listening here: What was the most impactful experience you can recall from your childhood that shaped the way you talk to young people today???

Welcome Back Coach! The most impactful experience was the way adults spoke at children. 80/90’s we were robots. Doing as we were told with no why behind it. Allowing young people at times to ask questions develops a trust and transference of power and leadership.
Are your thoughts, words and actions serving you lately??
Hey everyone, I have recently been laying low and trying to do some soul searching as I restructure some of my materials for working with athletes and families. I wanted to take this minute to see if all of you feel like the things you are spending your time on are serving you well. Take a minute to reflect below…

I was missing the daily check ins and questions Coach. Hoping all is good. When dealing with heavy issues, I find solace in separation from a lot including social circles. Transitions are difficult but allow us to reevaluate and grow. I truly believe in my Higher Power and his ordering of my steps. We think of things at set backs, I think of them as sling shots
What are you grateful for…
This holiday weekend I am overwhelmed with gratitude for my family and the time I have this weekend to spend with them. They are the reason I am building this space. I would love to know what all of you are doing and what you are most grateful for right now?

Grateful to understand. Understand that we are blessed in our lives. Family, friends, and all things that come with life
