Well, I suppose I should speak up, having trained under Ando Sensei since 2002 during my quasi-yearly travels to Japan. I appreciate all the positive comments about aikido and the extended learning process. Aikido is something to feel and experience and not just look at. The folks who label it "bullshido" don't know what they are looking at, I believe. There are certain Fundamentals that can be emphasized during Jiyu waza forms as well as Shite's understanding of them. Yoshinkan has a very logical training progression and emphasis on centerline development and control, movement from the center (hara), and engaging the whole body in movements, and not just isolated muscular regions. Anywhere uke makes contact with Shite is a conduit to transfer body weight into the opponent. Anyway...thank you for the video. I can wholeheartedly say that if you get the chance...visit Ryu Dojo in Urayasu, JP and try training. You won't be disappointed. There are also many deschi-run dojos under Ando Sensei around the area, (like Jim Dawes Sensei in video, located in Saitama) so lots of opportunity to train. And if you're in Alaska...visit my Dojo (Shoryukan Dojo in Fairbanks). Thanks again.

Taikokyu question

I'm currently working through the 30-day Taikokyu challenge. I noticed on one session Take Sensei commented he may travel with an Obi instead of a Nobi-bo. Are there any recorded sessions where he goes through a Taikokyu sequence with an Obi instead of Nobi-bo? It seems one could swap them easily enough, but I was wondering if he had any insight to adapting postures or sequences with an Obi as a stretching aide. Thanks!
