Poll: Who performed the best dueling piano scene in film?
I'm always inspired to see high-energy piano duels in film, and the competitive nature of the two dueling musicians speaks to the human condition and ego of "being the best". As a competitive young lad, I strived to get better by playing with much better musicians than myself. Which clip is your favorite?

Soundcheck: Introduce Yourself
Welcome to my channel, where I'm going to show you how to seriously rock the piano! For my entire life I have been seeking the perfect piano groove, which played in the correct way can inspire any audience to move and shake with uncontrollable joy. I greatly appreciate music biopics that capture the lightning spark moment perfectly on film when recreating great moments in historical performance. These lightning rod moments have happened for me as well but on a more personal level. When a performing musician nails the solo or comes back to "the pocket" at the right moment, the crowd will usually responds with excitement, as if the performer landed the Triple Lindy. It's profound, because in each audience member there's a deep need for each one to feel more human: Connection. The magic happens when flow state is reached, and the explosive energy flowing out of a commanding entertainer is visceral, electric, and may frequently cause mystical, out of body experiences. Is this the moment you always wanted when starting piano lessons? Is so, you're in the right community. To get started, cosey on up to the CLASSROOM tab of this course and start by checking out the START HERE video. Introduce yourself, city your based in, how long have you played, and what was the "craziest" gig you've ever witnessed or performed? Juicy details encouraged. If you're enjoying the vibe of this community, then jump over to the ABOUT page for more info on our joining the Premium Member Tier to join my Zoom Q&A session to learn and share piano riff techniques. Show up with requests for any type of blues, pop, country, or rock piano technique that you'd like to learn. Quick Ground Rules: 1. Please be ready to share in your progress at any level, and ask questions. 2. No bullying or general nasty behavior of fellow players (goes without saying). 3. Participate in Challenges and as always, HAVE FUN! Come for the rock, stay for the vibes. See you on the flippity side.

Visualize Your Name in a Marquee
A big part of striving towards success in entertainment is visualization. I always feel that if you can continually remind yourself how awesome you are, then it's bound to come true. The first time I saw my name on a marquee was at a club small music club right outside of Columbus, OH in a town called Dayton. Seeing my name on the marquee started a feeling of unease, as I had a severe case of imposter syndrome at 19 years old. Needless to say, At the beginning of the gig, I played to a room of 2 or 3 couples for ~45mins before everyone (except the bar staff) ran for the door. The empty room felt like a cavernous detention cell, with my over-reverbed voice cracked and creaked. Ugh. It was devastating. I felt like I wasted the owner's energy just making the effort to put my name up. However, the lightning spark moment of emotion I felt as I first saw my own name is something I'll never forget. It made me realize that my little growing talent banging on the keys and singing my heart out in front of people could take me on an interesting journey if I just got my crap together and learned how to entertain. It also made me realize stark visuals can impact my life profoundly. Visioning is powerful. So, I ask you as a musical journeyman or woman to create a powerful visual of a dream venue that you would always love to play. Where have you had unforgettable experiences, and I want you to put your name on the marquee with a little AI magic. Task 1: Go to ChatGPT, and add the following prompt: 'Create a high resolution >5mB image of a marquee sign with the name, [Insert Your Name Here], and place this marquee sign outside [Insert Your Dream Venue Here] in [City In The World]' The image I came up with below is a powerful reminder that anything is possible with commitment. I have always felt that playing at Radio City or Carnegie Hall would be the ultimate "I made it" venues. Whether I get there or not is irrelevant. It's the Spin-Off Effect that counts.
