Readers?
Have you had anyone read your writing or WIPs? What questions do you ask them after they are done reading? One question I always ask is: "At what point did you feel like you wanted to put it down?" This usually indicates lulls in your writing or pacing issues.

I’ve only had a few people read my writing, and I’ve told them all to be honest - whilst I appreciate kind words, there’s a part of me that doesn’t believe it as much as I do criticism lol. Hence I value constructive criticism a lot more
Overused Words??
In your writing, do you notice that you overuse certain words? I always overuse the word 'smirked' 😂 What do you think your most overused word is??

‘Seemed to’, ‘replied’ - I fear ‘proclaimed’ might join them lol
Movies!
Curious for some creative inspiration! What movies or shows have impacted your writing? Watching Hamlet has influenced me a ton. Share in the comments!

I would say TV detective dramas influenced me - Mallorca Files, Ashes to Ashes, Magnum P.I and Kojak. Also movies like Black Dynamite and Shaft - I love some good action!

@Asherah Abbas you don’t have to post your face or your real name to promote your content. You could post quotes from the book (if your publisher allowed you too), or suggest your book if people liked other books. In order to get a good following, you have to follow a lot of people - focus on following book related content creators. Also if you can, advertise on multiple platforms (Twitter/X, instagram, tumblr, etc). Hope this helps
WIP?
I want to hear about your Work In Progress! In the comments, describe your WIP in one sentence, and tell us your word count so far! Don't feel bad if you aren't far along, that's why it's in progress! We're here to support each other!
