A small reflection that I’ve done what was ‘expected of me’ for 53 years. Not until very recently did I start questioning ‘by whom’. Turns out my ‘protectors’ have been running wild for years unchecked. One day at a time, seeking guidance from my body and intuition instead of parts that are no longer needed to protect me. 💕

Love this. One day at a time is the best thing we can do!
What do you hope the next generation inherits from you?
Becoming a grandma (ah hem, glamma) earlier this month has opened my heart in a new way and has invited a new layer of reflection in my life. My granddaughter has me thinking about lineage, inheritance, and the responsibility of becoming one of the women who will help shape how she understands love, belonging, strength, and her own worth. I have been sitting with the idea of reclaiming the matriarch: returning to a form of feminine leadership rooted in care, wisdom, protection, memory, and devotion to the generations that follow. There is so much I hope she receives from the women who love her. A sense of belonging and confidence in her own knowing. The freedom to grow into herself without worrying about what anyone else thinks. The assurance that she is surrounded by a lineage of women who dreamed, survived, healed, loved, and prepared the way for her arrival. Her life is just beginning, and somehow she has already invited me into a deeper understanding of my own. What do you hope the next generation inherits from you?

Self regulation!
Love this - I also downloaded the resource which is fantastic. One of my kids is Autistic but before we had that diagnosis we were in breakdown and did a DBT course for teens together. It was life-changing, not just for Phoenix but for our whole family as we have all put many of these methods into use.

DBT saved my life! I went through it twice - once at about 22 and again at 30. I think everyone can use dialectical behavior therapy. I'm glad you found the resource helpful!
Triggers!
I have a couple of big ones. 1. Feedback - I struggle to hear feedback as anything but criticism and my body reacts as if my life is in danger 2. Rejection - my body reacts line I’ve been mortally wounded I won’t go into the reason here (childhood trauma) but just to say it’s the work of this phase of my life to ‘notice’. 💕

Yes, I've had a deep wound around rejection myself. Question: how do you feel about giving people feedback? I know for a long time, it was just as hard for me to give as it was to receive! But, after I learned how to do it appropriately (stick to the facts, etc.), I've gotten much better at being on either end.
