WHAT DAW ARE YOU USING AND WHY? 🎶
Seeing as the last time we did this we only had about 100 members, let's get an update! What DAW are you mainly using these days and what about it has captured your heart? (Last time Bitwig was the big winner...) Vote below and leave a comment below briefly explaining why you use that DAW.

the best DAW is the one that allows you to get your ideas down with as little friction as possible - for me that's still Ableton (not because it necessarily has better features, but just because I'm so much faster with it than other DAWs)

@Lex Christopherson I started with Ableton years ago, also tried Logic back then and liked it for mixing but not so much for producing. I have Bitwig and I can see why people love it, but I never spent enough time with to the point that I was fully comfortable and in the end always went back to Ableton.

What piece of gear in your studio do you never use but haven’t sold? Why?
I’ve been thinking about this because I have a DJ mixer that I intended to use as the centerpiece of my live setup. Although I’ve played live with a different configuration, my original plan never materialized. Yet somehow, I’m still trying to make it work in my head. Why do we become attached to objects we don’t use?

What’s one belief about music production or creativity you’ve completely changed your mind about over the years? Did you once think you had to suffer for your art? That success required selling out? Or that you could only be inspired in perfect conditions? Share your biggest mindset shifts and how they’ve impacted your work.

I used to think that being creative cannot be learned or practised.
I would ❤️ your feedback!

What I liked about this community recently - guests have been great - active community - relevant and on-topic discussions What I disliked in about this community recently - I find it a bit chaotic and hard to keep up, because there is no easy visual separation between topics (like general and music), and older threads are a bit hard to find - community is quite big already, so impossible to get to know everyone or follow all potentially interesting conversations

@Lex Christopherson yeah that's useful but I think it could be even better - like why wouldn't there be an option to organise the posts directly into threads, e.g. using different columns or different colours. Maybe some people are more into the music or mindset or something else posts and want those to appear first or highlighted in some way. Or there could be some smart way to show you the things first that you're more likely to engage with (based on previous interactions). I'm not against some randomness and exposure to things that one wouldn't usually click on, but I feel there is some potential to optimise the whole experience.
