Custer’s last Stand or Indians Last Stand?
Was George Custer, only living 36 years, a hero even though he lost overwhelmingly at the battle of Little Bighorn? George Custer was a Commander during the Civil War who fought at Gettysburg in 1863, pivotal win, but… His USA 7th Cavalry LOST to Crazy Horse and 3 Indian tribes: Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes in 1876 in Montana. However…,1st, not all 700 men were killed, 268 were, including Custer 2nd Congress would drastically increase the troop numbers for future engagements with Indian tribes. In reality, this was THE INDIANS LAST STAND of being victorious on the battlefield! This marked the end of significant Indian victories against American Forces. The Indian battles were TRUE WAR and the Colonists and American forces WON UNCONDITIONALLY, leading to the Indian reservations of today. I added a message monument made to honor Crazy Horse who defeated Custer, but surrendered to US forces in 1877, the next year.

One of the most fascinating characters in American history! I'm actually reading "My Life On the Plains" right now. I also interviewed Sitting Bull's great great grandson, Vietnam veteran Ernie LaPointe (and read his book "Sitting Bull: His Life and Legacy" that I picked up at the Little Bighorn gift shop) for my podcast and it was so interesting! The post civil war American West is one of my favorite (and recent) areas of interest!

@Mike Karabell Yes I would agree with that. He didn't seem to take into account that famous British "stiff upper lip"

Are you watching the Winter Olympics? What is your favorite U.S. or your country Olympic moment? It’s patriotism in its purest form! The Men’s Hockey Team is going for Gold while the Women’s team already won! The Miracle on Ice 1980 Men’s Hockey Team stunned the World defeating the U.S.S.R’s dominant team in a Cold War showdown of U.S. amateur players at the time. Also, Jesse Owen’s won 4 Gold Medals setting World Records in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games in NAZI Germany!
