Do you have a favorite teacher? Could be yours or just someone you admire. What about a particular style? Yang, Chen, Sun, Wu... something else? Maybe you're more Bagua or Qigong or ______ ? Is there a movement you find yourself practicing the most? Or a concept that you continue to explore? Is there one form to rule them all? 9? 13? 24? A book or movie or YouTube channel? Where is your go to spot? Home? A class? Under a big tree? Share your insights and experiences with the rest of the class.

Some of the teachers I follow are David-Dorian Ross, Damo Mitchell, Bruce Frantzis, and Paul Cavel. There are others but that's the short list. I've been told that Brush Knee is the most important movement in Yang style so I practice that a lot. I spend a lot of time exploring Peng and that expansive energy. 13 Form is my favorite and makes Jet Li my uncle.😎 All of the above have great YouTube channels with a lot of content as well as online classes/schools. My favorite spot is the beach. It's hard to get that kind of connection to nature elsewhere. One particular spot is called the Self Realization Fellowship. If you are in the area it's a peaceful spot with a great view. The original temple that was built on a cliff overlooking the ocean had to be removed because the cliffs there are unstable. But the original stairs remain. It gives food for thought about the nature of change and how life is impermanent. I had been in the area for years and never knew it was there until my Creative Writing professor had us go there as a writing exercise. It felt like home ever since.
Tai Chi Zero --> Hero
Everyone of us must start at the beginning. There is no way to skip this level. But if we continue taking steps... We will get somewhere eventually. Tai Chi Zero and Tai Chi Hero are must watch Tai Chi flicks. Sure there are some over the top elements, but both are very entertaining and have plenty of classical aspects/references. Is this really how Yang family Tai Chi was created? Non-stop Kung Fu action at every turn! They should've made the 3rd movie! Have you seen it? Love it or Hate it? Any favorite parts? Enjoy. 🙏
