I thought it was great that we had two sessions on sewing a zipper bag. 😁 @Monika Potaszynska showed us how to make the pattern, which was a great new skill for me. @Carolina Moore walked us through how to actually put the zipper in, which was a valuable demonstration for those of us who aren't too experienced at sewing. I watched both sessions and was glad to have both. I have a pattern and fabric, just need to go pick up a zipper!
Yarny morning
Thanks to @Lisa Toppin and @Christine Mullen for my yarn themed morning here. I've never tried Tunisian crochet OR knitted from a chart before. Tunisian turns out to be really fun. Maybe I'll try knitting from a chart!

@Cheryl Torrez Two ideas for you... one, YouTube has a lot of free lessons if you search "How to knit for beginners" or "How to crochet for beginners" you can find some videos and choose one you like. Second idea, the crafty people in this group probably have a lot of great resources, and more of them will see your question if you start a new thread. We are talking right now in the comments/replies to my thread, so I got notified that you had replied, but most people won't see your question here. If you start a new thread and ask again, it will be at the top and everyone will see it. šŸ™‚
Carolina Moore’s Boxed Cornered Zipper Pouch
I just watched Carolina’s class and it was fantastic! I want to start making a bunch of them. I have almost everything I need to get going but have to check for fusible interfacing. I even have a supply of colored nylon zippers! Thank you Caroline. Your instructions were precise and your presentation was inspiring 🄰

I watched that today too and got inspired! I was wondering if I could try it with nonfusible interfacing if I pinned it. Probably more of a pain to work around the pins, but I already have some nonfusible... šŸ¤”
Monika Potaszynska's zipper pouch!
The box corner zipper pouch lesson was so great! Absolutely packed with information. But easy to follow even though I have never made my own pattern before. I have a pattern all drawn out down and ready now, just have to choose some fabric.
Sneak Peek: Workshops You’ll Love at the Art of Handmade Summit
The Art of Handmade Summit (Sept 15–18) is right around the corner, and the workshops we have lined up are seriously inspiring. This isn’t just about learning techniques — it’s about carving out time for yourself, trying something new, and connecting with others who ā€œgetā€ your love of making. Here’s just a little peek at what’s waiting for you: 🧵 For the sewists & quilters - A cozy quilt-as-you-go table runner you’ll actually finish (Jennifer Taylor) - Scrap-busting sewing projects that make your leftovers shine (Debbie Jenkins) 🧶 For the yarn lovers - Crochet a sweet little pumpkin in just one sitting (Kristine Racine) - Knit a cowl you’ll reach for all season long (Angela Palmer) šŸŽØ For paper & mixed media creatives - Handmade greeting cards that’ll have friends asking, ā€œYou made this?!ā€ (Kristina Hunter) - Create a vision board that’s as beautiful as it is motivating (Susan Santoro) šŸ’ For jewelry makers - Learn wire-wrapping skills while making your own earrings (Melanie Hamann) - Beadwork basics you can master in an afternoon (Jessica Steele) āœļø For creative souls - Turn journaling into an art form with a keepsake journal project (Lynne Blackman) - Relax into watercolor florals that feel like meditation with a brush (Kelly Cable) And honestly… that’s only scratching the surface. We’ve got 36 workshops total, each one designed to give you something fresh, fun, and do-able. šŸ‘‰ I’d love to know: which of these workshops are you MOST excited to dive into? Drop it in the comments so we can cheer each other on!
