Update 8/13 - 12-Month Curriculum in "Classroom" Section
I have already fallen off the wagon due to lack of structure. To combat this and get myself more of a roadmap to go from where I currently. I put together a 12-month roadmap for myself if anyone wants to follow along. This should cover basics of script, learning Python and then Rust, and finally focusing on one of the bleeding edge off chain solutions. Expectation for myself is 4 hours a day. 2 hours of theory, and 2 hours of coding.

@Satoshi Nakamoto I saw the news that activated. Pretty cool. What are you liking about it?

@Otis K I think thats smart. On the Ruby / language side. I just had a conversation with a prominent Bitcoin dev that runs a large development agency. They are currenrly doing work across Bitcoin script in Rust, Stacks in Clarity, Blockstream with Simplicity, Starknet's Cairo, and some Python. He basically said once you get the basics down. The difficulty of switching from one to the other isnt THAT bad.
Quick mid week update
Been deep diving into The Bitcoin Dev Project. Which I believe is a resource provided mostly by block. It's been fantastic so far. Highly recommend. https://bitcoindevs.xyz/bitcoin-core
Goal for this week
Understand how the network functions at a high level. We all understand PoW and the mempool at a high level. I want to have a good understanding of the following basic concepts to build on in the future: - how script works conceptually - what are UTXOs at the protocol level - How are they unlocked and locked using cryptography - public-private keys - How wallet addresses are derived - Difference between the kinds of wallets - What is P2x (P2SH, P2TR, etc) - Where off-chain protocols fit into the onchain transaction and how they are secure - What is client side validation - Risks of p2p networks vs global state This are a few that come to mind. I'm sure i'll find more as I dig into details. I will link anything I find useful in Friday's update. Let me know if you want me to add them here as well.

@Otis K after talking with a few devs. I’ll be starting with Python then moving to Rust. Rust is likely the best language to learn long term with so much current Bitcoin development and libraries happening with it. But it’s apparently very hard to learn. So I plan to start with Python to learn the basics and move fast.

@Otis K it is. The practical Question is if you’re new to coding. Starting with Rust is starting on hard mode
