Most people believe their life improves when they feel more motivated. It doesnโ€™t. Motivation is unstable, it changes with sleep, stress, hormones, money, weather and mood. Thatโ€™s why people say things like: โ€œI was doing really wellโ€ฆ then I fell off.โ€ You didnโ€™t fall off. You just ran out of motivation. The people who change their lives donโ€™t rely on motivation at all. They rely on systems. A system removes the need to decide. It removes the need to negotiate with yourself. It removes the need to โ€œfeel like itโ€. A system turns behaviour into default action. Think about brushing your teeth. You donโ€™t wake up and ask: โ€œDo I feel inspired to brush my teeth today?โ€ You just do it. Thatโ€™s a system. The same thing can be done with: โ€ขexercise โ€ขnutrition โ€ขsleep โ€ขwork โ€ขcreativity โ€ขpersonal growth When the system is right, the behaviour becomes inevitable. When the system is wrong, the behaviour becomes a battle. Most people try to force discipline. But discipline is a terrible long-term strategy. Design beats discipline every time. So hereโ€™s the real question: What in your life is currently relying on motivation instead of a system? Thatโ€™s where your next breakthrough is hiding.
