9 Lessons I've Learned as a Player Development Coach
1. Every player learns differently 2. The "Drills" you use aren't as important as the "why" behind each drill 3. Finding Solutions to Problems (as quick as possible) makes you a great coach 4. Having Defenders/rebounders make the workout 10x better 5. Coming in with a plan gives you confidence to command the workout 6. Focus on 1 thing at a time 7. Shooting is the most important skill in basketball 8. Live Defense > Cone drills 9. Nothing beats simply playing basketball What would you add?

One thing I noticed is having just moved from U12 into U23s, is that having fun is a very underrated aspect in player development and defiantly has an impact on players performance
Scouts before or after training
Currently struggling with keeping player retention during scouts we currently do them before training on Thursday preparing for our weekend games, and was wondering if this small change could help?

We have a similar template of scout then practicing it on the floor. Its more about the retention after training, we can smash the scout and force the offence to take the shots we want however on gameday it seems to not translate from scout/training into the game.

We run through the scout 2v0 then integrate into 2v2, 2v3, 3v3 etc depending on how we want to defend certain actions. It normally runs very smoothly until 5v5 when seem to have issues executing.
