Retiring a podcast? Insights Needed
I started a podcast last year with a friend, and season 1 is live with ten episodes. We paused during the summer, and since then, I haven't felt connected to the style of that podcast or the urge to continue with another season. I am eager to start my own in the coming weeks. I would love advice on past co-hosts and how you left the last podcast you previously co-hosted. Did your co-host take ownership and run with it? Did you help them find another co-host? Do you lose your efforts and IP in building and running that podcast and transferring it to the other co-owner? We used B-Cast in our podcast, but now that the platform has suddenly closed, we need to transfer the podcast to another hosting service to keep season 1 alive.

I don’t have podcast history but I do have partner history in a few businesses that I’ve learned from. Do you know what her thought process is about the future of the podcast? Ask if you don’t know then be honest about your intentions. The biggest hurdle in a partnership is that someone will likely feel hurt or betrayed. Communication will help so you both can continue on your journeys, even if separate, with integrity and possibly the friendship.
