The good stuff first: The hardscape is genuinely strong. The rock arrangement has real depth. The layering from front to back creates dimension that most beginners never achieve. The sand substrate is the right call, it makes the whole thing feel natural and clean. Plant selection is solid. Java moss is carpeting the foreground, it is a little bit wild though, and the hornwort in the midground/background make a lot of surface for biofilm to grow on which is great as this is a shrimp tank (and I don´t think they need to be betta food). Anubias brakes this up nicely tucked into the rocks. That combination works. Now the roast: We need to talk about the skeleton. It is the centrepiece of the aquascape and it looks like something washed up on a beach in a pirate movie. The hardscape and plants are telling a story about a natural underwater landscape and then there is this cartoon dinosaur spine lying in the middle of it asking questions like: “How did I get here?” It changes the feel of the tank from beeing natural to being a fantasy. Which can also be cool and is probably underrated. We should have more fantasy tanks and combining them with real plants is great. The lighting strip is too harsh and too visible. The white LED bar along the top is blowing out the surface of the photo and drawing the eye upward instead of into the tank. A warmer, more diffused light would transform how this tank photographs and how it feels to look at. Maybe it´s just the picture though. The plant growth is slightly uneven. It´s fine to have the open are in the middle but then I would like to see similar ammount of plants of each side to keep a balance for the eye 😉 Verdict: 7/10 for the hardscape and the dragon is either a make or brake for people. I guess some would love it and others hate it. It would be fun to have people comment what they think about it :)
@Karen Eir Birgisdóttir FCK Hornworth. And ugly shrimps ;) Would be cool to get red plants instead of the Hornworth and put them behind and between the rocks. The rocks ara a little red as well and then have more dark green anubias in front as a contrast. 🤔
🐟Welcome to Rate My Fish
Got a betta you're proud of? Post it here. Here's how it works: Create a new post in this category — add your photo or video, tell us the variety, colour, age, and name if they have one. The community will tell you what they think and I'll weigh in on colour, form, and what makes your fish stand out. Fair warning — if your betta is exceptional, people will want to know the genetics behind it. That rabbit hole goes deep. One rule: start a new post for your fish, don't comment on this one. That way your betta gets its own thread and the attention it deserves. Show us what you've got. 🐟

🔥 Welcome to Roast My Tank
Want honest feedback on your setup? You're in the right place. Here's how it works: Create a new post in this category. Add your photo or video, tell us a bit about your tank (size, how long it's been running, what you're keeping) and I'll give you my honest take. What's working, what isn't, and exactly what I'd change. Other members are encouraged to add their input too. This is a community where many eyes see better then one. It has to be constructive though as we are here to improve tanks and the wiser we are, the more grace we have for the beginners. One rule: start a new post for your tank, don't comment on this one. That way your tank gets its own thread and proper attention. Drop your tank below 👇

👋 Welcome to Betta Cult Start here before anything else. Create a new post and tell us three things: Where you're from. We're a global community and it's always interesting to know who's keeping bettas where. What you keep. One betta, a sorority, a planted tank, a Walsted bowl? Whatever it is we are happy you hear about your project. One thing you want to get better at. Whether it's water quality, aquascaping, breeding, photography, or just keeping your fish happier for longer. Say it out loud. That's what this community is for. That's it. No pressure. Welcome to the cult. 🐟
I will just go first. I´m from Iceland though I curently am residing in Spain. I would like to breed really cool and rare betta fish and have this community here blooming with interesting discussions and people being friends, getting to know each other and sharing their success and failures in the hobby :) I keep a 200l Sorority with six bettas and other fish, a fish bowl I don´t really know what to do with at the moment and a 30l nano tank with Neocardina shrimps and Galaxy Microrasboras. I would really like to get better at taking pictures of my fish.
