And Just Like That
Simply put, I can't keep saying I need like-minded people in my community but sideline myself in the community. So I am listening to Vasavi and Kim (live) and have rejoined. Full transparency, I was supposed to rejoin 3 weeks ago
🎤 JUST SAY IT JANUARY — DAY SIX: NAME WHAT YOU’RE PROUD OF
We’re so conditioned to perform humility that most people can’t name one thing they’re proud of without shrinking. But confidence doesn’t come from pretending you’re small. It comes from acknowledging your growth out loud. Today we flip the script. 🗣️ DAY 6 PROMPT: “What is one thing you’re genuinely proud of — in your business AND in your life?” Examples: Business: • “I kept showing up even when my numbers were low.” • “I raised my price without shaking.” • “I honored my nervous system instead of forcing visibility.” • “I stayed consistent when my old identity wanted to hide.” Life: • “I handled grief and still kept my heart open.” • “I stopped chasing people who wouldn’t meet me.” • “I rested without guilt.” • “I trusted myself more than my fear.” Your voice strengthens what it acknowledges. Extra rep: When you record your video, name one small action you’ll take in the next 24 hours to honor what you just said. Drop your Day 6 rep below. 👇🏽 Keep your videos to 2 min or less.

I just saw this and wanted to reply but did not have time to record: Forgive the typos ( I am rushing to class)👉Today I am taking a HUGE risk and investing in my business. As not to touch my emergency funds, I pulled from an investment account. It has taken me 3 months to pull the trigger. What got me to cross over? I am glad you asked :) I started my business during COVID as a tax shelter. My employer was requiring an online fitness/wellness presence during shutdown but was not reimbursing for the expense. So I sat with a CPA and we determined a 'side business' properly structured made fiscal sense. That was my first decision to invest in me even though it didn't look like it at the time. Over the past 3 months, I have sat with that and what I want my business to be moving forward as I move into my 3rd year full-time. So today is investment day and that makes me proud.

@Christine Weddle RELIEF! I like that celebration. Can we say that again for the people in the back? :) I am not sure I would've thoght of it in terms of relief but when i read this my mind said 'what else woud it be'. I need to hold this moment for an upcoming coaching session. I will be sure to credit you anonymously. I am not sure if you are creating content, but your insight screams ... straight to camera

🧘‍♀️Your body has questions too
If you want to know why you freeze, fawn, fight, or flee before hitting record, the Nervous System Questions section is your home. Bring your patterns here. Bring your sensations here. Bring the “my body shut down when I tried to post” moments here. You do not have to figure it out alone. Your voice is not separate from your nervous system. Your visibility practice starts in your body and your body will always tell the truth first. Ask your questions in that category so I can coach you through what your system is actually trying to protect. XOXO Vasavi

@Maureen Jones 3 words: Cel A BRATE! Okay, they are not words but you get my point. Celebrate. You had a mic in your hand, you engaged the room from the mic and people enjoyed the moments. Celebrate. I would also say, the next time you are hesitant channel the guy who wouldn’t stop talking. I am not saying go on forever but he had NO problem with stepping into the moment. He may have even read the room and decided “they are going to hear all these stories even if they don't want to.” Not saying that needs to be your energy but channel him being carefree at the mic and if he can do it, gurrrl I know you can CRUSH it.

@Maureen Jones You're welcome! What if you take you on as another role? If you’ve been comfortable as other characters, think of it as your moment to go from understudy to lead. Many moons ago, during my theatre years, I had this audition monologue from Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. This monologue was not only my best audition, it also spoke to me. One of my professors suggested adding one more monologue from the play to rotate when I auditioned. I couldn’t even imagine that. I had practiced this monologue from the conservatory to my college classroom — I was not letting it go. But wanting to pass the class and graduate, I realized the ask wasn’t really an ask, and I put it in my repertoire for my final. At our juries, one of the professors asked me what I learned from the process, and I remember saying something like, “By taking on this other character, it led me to a side of myself as a performer I didn’t know was there. I also realized I never needed to fear the new character, I was already familiar with the play.” Perhaps this walk down memory lane can help you find comfort in being the leading lady in your story , the one you’ve always been.
How Do I Turn This Into Content That Connects?
Hey OLS Fam, I recorded this video inspired by one of Vasavi’s prompts and because I could use a little help. I apologize for the length. I wanted to give enough context. What I’m trying to figure out is this: How can I capture this level of energy and make my social content educational and engaging, in a way that makes the audience feel connected and want more? Would love your eyes on it. Thank You 💚

@Vasavi Kumar The challenge with learning on the go, or in process, is that no matter how much homework you think you’re doing, you only know what you know, and the same goes for the people trying to teach you. That said, I’ve been avoiding this phrasing because it sounds so “salesy.” Saying that out loud feels strange, because conversions are sales. Still, there is a fluff social media sales lexicon that, honestly, makes it sound like people lack imagination and intellect on both sides of the coin. I have an entire lexicon I’ve asked my GPTs not to use. But reading this, I’m realizing that my refusal to use fluff wording, like “making changes for your real life,” has also led me to reject language that has actually shown it converts. This is helpful, and I’m dropping this list of examples into my language GPT. Thank you.

@Vasavi Kumar @Lisha Epperson Thank you both. I really appreciate your take. Both of your responses are VERY helpful. I’m a Pisces, so finding the middle ground is challenging. But what you said made me realize that by standing ten toes down on avoiding certain language, I might actually be in my own way. I’ve been so stuck on not using phrasing like “a program that fits your real life” that I’ve ignored the fact that those words do land with people. What I need to focus on is finding a way to say things so my clients actually hear me when they see me, and so the right people are pulled in, whether they subscribe to my weekly email, monthly class card, or one-on-one. Right now, I’m mostly just eye rolling and cringing at what passes as normal social media language. Honestly, I probably should’ve said this earlier, but before COVID, I was pretty anti-social media. I need to check in and make sure I’m not still judging it while trying to use it.
