I send out invoices for the previous week every Monday, so that gives me a chance for a quick checkup, with a more detailed review at EOM. I like that I'm not waiting until the end of month to input my income and expenses and possibly have a surprise
Bookkeeping Software
What are you using? Is it QuickBooks, Xero, Wave, a spreadsheet? Let me know. I would love to create some training materials for you for Wave (my favorite free bookkeeping software) but not sure if many are using it?

I use Wave also. It's been a great tool for me

I also track my hours and expenses in a spreadsheet and then input them into Wave. It's a little bit of double work but the spreadsheet gives me more data to work with
Monday – Money Check-In
What’s one number you looked at (or avoided) last week? Did you check how much you made? Or spent? Did you calculate your profit? Let us know!

23rd is my EOM so I ran all my numbers today. I've been using the Profit First method and (just barely) made my earnings goal this month. I have a stretch goal I set for myself this year, so I'll be working on how to increase my earnings to meet that.

@Jeannie Guzman Around 6 or 7 years now, I believe. I know the first year I started freelancing I had no idea what I was doing on the business side, but that book helped me bring things into better focus

Hi, right now I work a full-time W-2 job, contract work in my main side business around 7-10 hrs/wk, and very occasional gigs in my other side business. I want to increase my income this year, either through an entrepreneurial stream or a part-time job. I've always done my own bookkeeping and have finessed my system pretty well thus far, but I'm always reading and learning to try to make it better.
