Day 115/120: The Final Stretch Begins
This is it. We're officially in the final stretch. At this point, every hour matters, so I'm trying to cut out anything that distracts me or wastes my time. These last few days are going to disappear so quickly, and before we know it, we'll be walking out of the SAT testing center wondering where all that preparation went. This is my first SAT, and honestly, I want it to be my last. I don't want to walk out thinking, "I'll just take the September one." I want to know that when I sat down on test day, I gave it everything I had. That's why I'm giving these final days everything I can. I've said this before, but I'll say it again: once I finish the Reading & Writing section, I want to know that I did everything I could to prepare for it. Math is feeling pretty comfortable for me at this point, but Reading & Writing takes a completely different kind of energy. Those reading passages need enough brainpower to power a whole fridge, dude. But we've come this far, and now we have to finish the job. Honestly, I feel like I'm writing the final chapter of some dramatic story here, but hopefully this one has a happy ending for all of us. To everyone taking the August SAT: stay focused, trust your preparation, and give it everything you've got. I'll see you all on the other side. Day 107/120: 13 Days Left. Time to Lock In.
Hello everyone! How are you all doing? I hope you've been using your time to actually improve and not just doomscrolling until you fall asleep. I know it's been quite some time since my last post, but honestly, life sometimes just doesn't give you a break. I didn't really have enough time to do much besides take practice tests and review my Math and Grammar mistakes. But even with limited time, I've been trying to make the most of what I have, and I can definitely feel myself improving consistently. Right now, I'm going through the full Aniko Desmos guide. I already know most of the content, so I'm mainly solving the practice problems. Whenever I run into something that gives me trouble, I can just scroll back up and review the explanation, which has been really helpful. My next big checkpoint is Bluebook Practice Test 11 next Saturday at 8 AM. This time, I'm going to simulate the real SAT as closely as possible. Same start time, proper environment, and yes, I'm even going to dress like I'm actually going to the exam. I want to see what I can actually do when I treat it like the real thing. After that, I'll probably spend the final week drilling my weakest areas. Also, if you somehow haven't heard yet, College Board recently added 270 new SAT questions, and I plan on working through all of them before next Saturday. Here's the collection: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gX9Uv60y5y1zEVBF-dwf5IL80jNKflqq?usp=drive_link Huge credit to Tight_Elk_2180 on r/SAT for putting the collection together. We're getting really close now. Only 13 days left. So seriously, make these days count. Nobody wants to spend the first days of senior year preparing to retake the SAT. Good luck to everyone taking the August SAT, and especially to anyone taking it for the first time. Let's finish strong. What are you guys focusing on during these final days? @Shiny Av Yeah 😂 I know, but unfortunately that's not me. I do have a Roblox game though, and it actually has a pretty decent number of players. You can check it out here if you want: https://www.roblox.com/games/12929185209/PUBG-2-0
Day 83/120: Stop Studying Everything. Fix Your Weakest Link.
Hey everyone! I know it's been a hot minute since my last update. To be honest, I've been so locked in doing practice tests and reviewing my mistakes that I genuinely thought I had already posted. I closed the Skool tab, and you know how it goes... out of sight, out of mind. Right now, I'm focusing almost entirely on Standard English Conventions, basically grammar. It's been my weakest area since the very beginning of my SAT prep, and honestly, it still is. The funny thing is that I'm now performing at the hard level in pretty much every other area of the SAT, including math. But grammar? It's still holding me back. So that's exactly where my time is going. I think one of the biggest mistakes people make during SAT prep is trying to study everything equally. Instead, find your weakest area and attack it until it isn't your weakest anymore. Then take another practice test. If you've improved, give yourself a pat on the back and move on to your next weakest area. Repeat that process over and over until there really isn't one section dragging your score down anymore. And if you genuinely can't decide which weakness to tackle first because two sections are about the same, throw them into https://wheelofnames.com/ and let the wheel decide. Seriously. The important thing is to start. I also watched John's full grammar course on his second channel, and I'd highly recommend it, especially for topics that aren't always covered in depth, like misplaced modifiers and possessives. Here's the video if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0UBERTF7WI Good luck with your prep, and I'll see you all soon. Day 77/120: Desmos Changed the Way I See SAT Math
Hello hello everyone! Hope you're all doing great and actually enjoying your SAT prep. As for me, I genuinely am. I don't think I've ever had this much fun studying before. Every time I learn a new Desmos trick, I get this huge dopamine rush and immediately want to find another question to use it on. For the past few days, I've been drilling math questions just to see which ones can be solved with Desmos and how to solve them more efficiently. It's honestly been the most enjoyable part of my SAT prep so far. The more I use Desmos, the more confident I become in SAT Math. I'm starting to realize that a lot of the challenge isn't the math itself, it's knowing the fastest and most reliable way to approach each question. Desmos has completely changed the way I think about solving problems. It's helping me solve questions faster, make fewer mistakes, and spend more time on the questions that actually require deeper thinking. If you haven't invested time into learning Desmos yet, I seriously recommend it. It won't magically solve every problem, but once you know how to use it well, it becomes one of the most powerful tools you can bring into the SAT. The two videos that helped me the most are these: - James Lu's SAT Desmos Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-O4nwVHQ-Y - John's Advanced Desmos Walkthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDJ2RHMFax8 That said, knowing Desmos is only part of the equation. The biggest factor is still practice. The more questions you solve, the more patterns you'll recognize, and the more naturally you'll know when Desmos is the right tool to use. I've also been trying to solve questions that are similar to ones students have reported seeing on recent SATs. I think it's a good way to expose yourself to the style of questions that are currently being tested. Good luck with your prep, and I'll see you all soon. Day 74/120: A Practice Test Is Never a Waste
Hello everyone! Hope you're all doing great as always. Yesterday, I took my first Bluebook practice test since March. My original plan was to simulate the real SAT as closely as possible by starting at exactly 8:00 AM, just like test day. Unfortunately, life had other plans. I had to leave early in the morning because of some things outside my control, and I didn't get back home until around 2 PM. By then I was exhausted, hadn't slept well the night before, and definitely wasn't in the best condition to take a two-hour exam. Because of that, I don't think my score is fully representative of where I am right now. But honestly, that's okay. One thing I've learned throughout this journey is that consistency matters more than perfection. Even though the conditions weren't ideal, the test was far from a waste. It still showed me where I need to improve, what topics I should spend more time on, and what my next steps should be. The only thing I wish is that the score report gave a little more detail. Every practice test is feedback. Some just give better feedback than others. Now it's time to review my mistakes, learn from them, and come back stronger on the next one. How often do you guys take full-length practice tests, and do you try to simulate the real testing conditions? Good luck with your prep, and I'll see you all soon.
