THIS WEEKS MEET UP: Freelancer to Founder
This week we’ll dig into the shift from being a freelancer who waits for work to land…to becoming a founder who builds a real business. - What changes in mindset have to happen? - What systems make the difference (CRM, proposals, outreach, positioning)? - How do you step into the role of leader without losing your creative edge? We'll make it interactive: members share where they are on the freelancer → founder spectrum and what roadblocks they’re facing right now. Thursday, August 28th @ 10:30am - 11am PST https://meet.google.com/era-tmns-ive

This is an excellent topic - critical to understand to avoid getting into your 40's and realising you can't put the camera down if you want to keep putting food on he table! It wasn't until I had 5 employees I really got into the founder role and started looking ahead. Things would have been a lot smoother if I'd have got there sooner.
Looking for clients
Hi, I’m Anurag Saini — a video editor with 2 years of hands-on experience. I’m currently open to new projects and would love to explore how we can work together. Let me know if you'd like to see my portfolio or schedule a quick call to discuss your needs. :- Portfolio https://sainicreatives.carrd.co/

Hey @Anurag Saini good effort getting an initial website up. I'd speak to Johnathan on the call about improving your messaging a bit on the website. "I have 2 years of experience and have worked with over 10 clients. It's a bit weak and feels more like something you'd read on a CV for a junior editor. I'm not sure years of experience is really worth mentioning until you hit 5, and for some people 10 clients is quite a low number. Instead you could consider something along the lines of these: I turn your raw footage into high-performing content for social Specialist in TikTok, Reels, and Shorts editing Social first video editing that gets attention - fast, polished, and built for engagement. The website does feel a little too 'home made' as well - worth improving the layout a bit when you get the chance. A few small tweaks and you'll be in a much better position I think! Good luck

@Anurag Saini You're very welcome - good luck! Feel free to share your update here when you have had the chance to work on it and we can check out the results
What’s actually stopping you from raising your rates—skill, structure, or story?
We’ll be diving into this topic live this Thursday at 10:30 AM PST in our weekly Zoom meetup. The Six-Figure Video Business Hub is where we come together to ask questions, share wins, and grow our video businesses with more intention. Until I got 'established' I always tended to go into big firms by undercutting their current suppliers, and then would slowly raise my rates over time. Now clients that used to pay me around £1200 for a 4 minute talking heads video 5 years ago pay £7k-£10k for the same deliverable. The quality is better, but not 8 times better. Costs have risen though of course, as there are employees and other fixed costs involved now which didn't exist when I was a solo freelancer. I’m still a big believer in going in cheap when I see long term value in a client relationship. Working for cheap (or even free) is an investment - just like buying shares or crypto. It’s not about underselling, it’s about playing the long game. Raising the pricing once you're in though can be somewhat of an art form, I'm sure Johnathan can cover some of that on the call!
