Bi-lingual Combined Service
Some sights and sounds of our Bi-lingual combined service on Sunday. It has take a lot of years to get to this point, where musicians, worship leaders are able to swap back and forth between English and Spanish in the middle of a worship song, translating all aspects of the service, etc. All our people have experienced these times so much that most know how to sing in the other language. All songs are translated in English and Spanish. Many of these combined services will be Spanish speaking first, translated to English second. Yesterday, was the opposite with English spoken first, translated into Spanish, second. We do these types of services between 4-6 times a year depending on the occasion. Yesterday was graduation Sunday and we had both English and Spanish speaking students graduating from High School, so we celebrated them all together. Pastor Mark's message on Transitions was translated by Pastor Pam Velazquez. What a joyful Sunday! There are literally 1001 ways to do these services, but what I will say is that you must put in some serious planning to pull it off well.

The Secret Sauce of Our Ministry
I recently posted this on my FB page. What do you think? The secret sauce to ministry with our community is both the proclamation and the demonstration of the gospel. This is our weekly Bible study to those who've come to get food. We also have a prayer team that works its way car to car down the line each week. Demonstration without proclamation is dead works. Proclamation without demonstration is dead faith. A wise missionary once shared this principle one Sunday many years ago and it has been one of the most fundamental principles that has greatly shaped our ministry philosophy. So many people have come to know the Lord through the meeting of physical needs followed by a proclamation of Christ as the only one able to meet spiritual needs. God is good!
