Start a New Project
My name is Yasu Suzuki. Japanese native lives in Brooklyn, NY. I made a short film titled "The Apologizers" which won the Best Script for Narrative Short at Queens World Film Festival 2019. I wrote a feature version and been pushing to fund the film. But I found this community and decided to start a new project that I can fund myself to make it. I am excited to be here!

Equipment
Anyone have any suggestions for beginner camera? Any comments about going retro, I mean such as a vintage camcorder? I've been watching YouTube and I was wondering if it's feasible to shoot a full length movie using a vintage camcorder or just stay away from it and look for a budget 4k Cinema camera? I'm open to any and all suggestions.

@Daniel Smith I'm intuitive. This makes it easy for me to work with writers, producers, directors and even actors. I can envision what they see. Then I put that envision in stone. Occasionally there might be a small change or sacrifice, but when everyone 95% that 5% is nothing.

I think I'm going to settle on the BMPCC 4K as a starter and if I like how it handles/shoots, I'll keep it as a main and add another for B rolls and another for backup.

Indigenous owned/operated?
Noob, 🤣
New here & new to the film industry. I'm from Lima Ohio Maybe my aspirations are to huge for my plate, IDK. But I want to learn in front of the camera (have some acting, in film I was in several big scene shots (in foreground with camera on me & lead actors, with me interacting with leads as an extra), several stage plays. I also want to learn behind the camera (camera operation, directing/producing, pre-production, editing, post productuin, etc. I also want to do professional production media content creations. As well as a production camera drone pilot. I think/feel/believe that knowing and having the skills above will help me be a better producer/director/camerman to be able to work & communicate with counterparts during shoots. No current projects, so far just a small Aspiring cinematographer. I have written several books (1 published young adult/children for an indigenous tribe in Arizona). Written a few stage plays for my junior high school and a few for the local church. Although I haven't been on stage at a comedy club, I have done some stand up and comedy skits.

@Aj Rome I justed lesson 3 of proof project. A friend I chat with yesterday recommended to me to intern with a local videographer/cinematographer that she knows. Said she'll get back with me in 4 to 8 business days with info/details. So I want to soak up as much as I can from anywhere I can get it. Thanks, lessons so far are fun & exciting
