Health and Wellness Coaching
Hi Everyone! I’m a BCBA working on becoming a Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I’m looking for a volunteer to practice my skills! A coach can help support you as you work on goals such as establishing healthy habits and balancing personal life and work. Interested? Let me know! Happy to answer any questions. You’ll get 4 FREE coaching sessions and will learn more about non traditional application of ABA! Thanks!

Where are you? What's your ABA superpower? We're all dying to meet you! STEP #2: Dive into the CEU library - Start with "Solving Clinical Challenges with Research" (Search for it in the classroom) STEP #3: Mark your calendar - We gather every other Wednesday for CEU events, plus a bunch of other events in between. Hi, I’m Hal (they/she) — BCBA since 2013, based in PA. I’ve worked across pretty much every ABA setting, including a stint at a digital health startup where I consulted with product and engineering teams on contingency management and user engagement. I also volunteer in an adaptive climbing program, which is a surprisingly good place to apply ABA.

@Analiese Lanza thank you Analiese!
Is There a Space for Us?
I’m queer, and I’ve been thinking about whether there’s a real gap in professional community for LGBTQ+ BCBAs. (Edited to add - or LGBTQ+ / neurodivergent or chronic illness. On second thought, scratch that, too much overlap.) I’ve worked in spaces where it wasn’t safe to be out, and I haven’t found a dedicated space that combines genuine community with peer consultation. I’m starting to build something. If this resonates, I’d love to hear from you here or in a DM.

@Julie Angstadt Thanks for your feedback. In my experience, at least as part of the LGBTQ+ community, it really depends on where you work, and it’s included client families/coworkers/employers. I went back and changed back to my original thought based on what you said and all of this!

@Alison Dickinson Thank you for sharing, Alison. I think a lot of this goes ‘unseen’ and it makes it all the more unsustainable. I have been in districts and homes where I know I’d be asked to leave if folks knew. Even in telehealth, I have to make sure my pronouns aren’t visible. Microaggressions are real and they add up.
What does our field need?
I’m looking to branch out a bit and see if there are any gaps in services that I might be able to help fill - whether it’s something missing but needed to support our consumers, or something to support our clinicians (BCBAs, BCaBAs, behavior techs, etc). I have years of experience in public schools and am also able to provide fieldwork supervision. What are some areas of need (for consumers and/or practitioners) that you’ve noticed, or services you would like to see?

@Matt Harrington I just spoke to @Analiese Lanza yesterday about a 3-part CEU on a different topic, but I think I could do a one-off on this!

I am learning that behavioral gerontology is fast-growing and very much in need of people who can specialize in this area.

I just pass my ABA exam and I look forward to the next stage
