The Most Hard-Core Night Market Experience I’ve Ever Had
Skip the lines and taste 22 iconic vendors in one secret banquet! A legendary lineup of OGs & queue-worthy stalls, all in one belly-busting night. At the end of last year, I had the honor of joining a secret feast that completely blew my mind: The Qian Sui Banquet (千歲宴). It wasn’t held in a fancy 5-star hotel, it was hidden in the heart of Ningxia Night Market — one of the most soulful and iconic night markets in Taipei. And this wasn’t just dinner , it was a full-on night market tasting banquet featuring 22 legendary dishes from stalls with over 50 years of history, all served directly to your table — no lines, no crowds, no stress. I went with a group of old friends — fellow small business owners I met years ago while hustling together in market stalls. That revolutionary camaraderie still holds strong. Here’s just a taste of what was on the table: - Hu Xu Zhang’s Signature Braised Pork Rice (there’s a legend that only the original store hits different — it’s true) - Lao Liu’s Kaoliang Sausages - Long Yuan Hao’s Crispy Pork Rolls - Lin Ji’s Deep-Fried Stinky Tofu - And my personal favorite: the legendary crispy stuffed squid — piping hot, crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with cucumber and yam inside. Even AI Godfather Jensen Huang made a special visit just for this dish. Every bite felt like flipping through pages of Taiwan’s culinary history. And it wasn’t just food. The whole event was hosted by none other than the Chairman of the Ningxia Night Market Association himself — in what he jokingly called his office, but really looked like a pop-up street food theater.
