“Passing the BOC doesn't automatically prepare you for every real-world clinical situation.” What do you wish your clinical education had prepared you for better?

@Vander Castillo I agree with this. We have had several terrible injuries and emergencies this year in Oklahoma. Some were handled really well, some were not.

@Jenna Doggett I mean the GA’s were tons of issues but I wasn’t going to call you out like that 😂 Shutting down in March and never coming back was the real problem!
Social media
I haven’t gotten too far into the social media tab yet, so forgive me if this has already been covered! On the call yesterday, Jenna talked about having both a business account and a personal account, posting to both, sharing content, etc. I’m curious what everyone has found to be the most effective approach. Is it better to focus on creating and posting content primarily on a business account and then sharing it to your personal account, or is there a benefit to posting separately on both? I have a pretty solid foundation of followers on my personal account, including a lot of ATs, so I’d like to take advantage of that audience but don’t want to bombard my non-AT followers with what they will see as just spamming content. At the same time, I like the idea of starting fresh with a dedicated account focused strictly on athletic training. Hopefully that makes sense! I’d love to hear what has worked best for others and any advice you might have.

@Cam Deckett I gotcha! That helps a lot!
Introduction | CultivATe Careers
Hi everyone! Introducing myself, I am currently in the collegiate setting working WBB but more importantly I just launched my own business, CultivATe Careers 2 weeks ago. Our main focus is to provide the service of supporting the AT through the job search/ interview process. We meet with clients to learn their career needs/ wants & we curate a list of relevant positions. We do this as long as is needed for the AT to find the right position. We then provide review of interview materials and interview prep/practice to help you land the job you are looking for. Follow us on IG: @cultivate_atcareers !

Welcome Jordyn!
Sit out? Or go play!
I'm interested to see what y'all say about this one... When an athlete presents with pain but still wants to compete, what factors carry the most weight in your decision to treat and monitor, modify participation, or refer them out? And I'll be more specific - senior football player, came back from ACL reconstruction on the left, and tore his right last week. 3 games left in the season. What do you do...

I am in the same boat. If doc clears it then I will do as much feel good treatment/taping/bracing as we can then go from there. However, I would look at his future too. Going to the next level of football? — I would be more conservative especially if already signed. Going next level in another sport? — I would strongly urge to consider the more damage that can be done and possibly missing out on the next season of sport they play that will end up being what they do after high school. I may be a little jaded on this point, but I have seen so many above average(possibly elite) high school athletes that push way too hard for x/y/z in high school, then get to college and can barely function one semester in. Ultimately I let the athlete decide, document it, then do whatever I can to help their desired outcome

Honestly for me the workload/burnout plus the low pay was my reason for leaving the secondary school where I was at. I was teaching 5 hours a day and working 2100hours in 181 day contract while not even getting a stipend equal to a head coach.

@Jenna Doggett that’s what I was trying to do before I left. I had a 20 page proposal to basically put me in administration and assist the AD. Superintendent never even opened it before I had my meeting with him.
